The copies on Scorpion came out as the Newsound. The copies on Mod- art as the Newsounds , probably a typo at the plant.
  2. The 45 came on Curtom cms0124 with 'Blackberry jam' on the flip. Andy
  3. If looking on the web you will have more luck if you edit out the 'R'. However most on here know who your'e on about.
  4. Given the Detroit connection, the Lenyard 45 imo lives far too much in the shadows of Eddie Parker's 'If you must go'. Great choice.
  5. This gig was a real pleasure to attend. All the Dj's were top notch, mixing true rarities with very common but fantastic soul 45's. Shed load of passion and no ego's from all who attended. Nice one! Andy
  6. From the less obvious I would like to recomend - Jeffrey Dixon & Belinda Elias ' Why can't this love be for real' Jady Orbrey & Bernice ' Let me lay with you tonight' Jed Hard Times( A duet without Question) ' I ask a question' ruby Glenn Gray & Cecily Wallss ' I do believe in love' Sg Bo Kirkland & Ruth Davis 'You're gonna get next to me' Claridge ( Okay it's more than obvious, but i like it) Andy
  7. Top quality group. Two members were in the Glories, Mildred Vaney and Frankie Gearing, Gearing cuting some great deep soul, not only on her beal street LP but also 'Tears on my pillow' for the Bound sound logo in Florida. Lois Reeves was also a member, formerly of Martha reeves and the Vandellas. An excellent choice. Andy
  8. These seem to always be at the top of the pile - Rosco Robinson 'She won't choose me' Gerri Sammy Jones 'Nothing can change this love' Hull Gwen Thames 'The day in the life of a fool Pro -7 Hoagy lands 'Reminisce' Spectrum Samuella Williams 'I'm tired of stealing your love' Tops Tony Troutman 'One way love' Swagger Darnell Pittman 'You hurt me' Dean Lavorn Smith 'Without your love i'll be nothing k.m.c Ernie Clark 'Give me a piece of your love m-odd Jeannie Reynolds 'I dont mess around Washington Lee Fields 'You're breaking my heart Angle 3 Snap prescoit 'Ain't no way Maple George Jackson 'Cold cold love' Public Midnight Magic 'When my love comes down' Drive Authentics 'Have I lost you' Kema Thrillers 'Leading 2 lives with 4 woman Apto Hard Times 'I ask a question' Ruby William bell 'Crying all by myself Stax Ann Sexton 'I'm his wife' SS7 Johnny Copeland 'What is a man without pride' Brown Sugar Irma Thomas 'Somewhere crying' Chess Denise Lasalle 'Married but not to each other Westbound The last five titles you should find for a tener all in, and imo are as good as any I listed prior to that. Many of the tracks can be listened to on Sir shambling's exellent web site. Andy
  9. Derek You mentioned Len Woods and 'i'm in love beeing his only known release, however I had always assumed the Lenny Woods lp on 20th century & the 45 on Excaliber from 88 was the same guy? Andy
  10. Patti Austin ( Iv'e given) all my love to you coral issue vg+ £100 SOLD Lots of light marks, but plays near perfect. The flip ' Why can't we try it again' is superb. George Byrd You better tell her so tangerine demo vg+ £75 SOLD Proper northern soul imo, one of the best on the logo, light marks, plays superb. 12. Douglas & Lonero 'This time' RCA £300 m- SOLD Very indemand uplifting 70's/ crossover soul from 75. Only on the stock copy and hardly ever comes up. Brad Lundy 'I want to share' LUNDY £400 vg++ SOLD The 1401 issue that many are searching for. Serious piece of uptempo soul. Plays superb. Paypal for payment please. Full refund if not satisfied. Reo Lane 'Give me your love' Bren £400 SOLD Thumping piece of music played over the years by forward thinking djs like Curtis, Thorley etc and hardly ever comes up for sale. 15. Yes, especially given the fact, unlike Galla he does not sound like Elvis!
  16. Given that we have been treated to the excellent ballads from Beavers, beverly etc, may be the inclusion of Freddie Scotts ' you're so hard to forget' should have been considered, However a top class CD. Andy
  17. A top class release within the genre, with some excellent background info. Nice one. Given the double sided original copies are tough to find, it's a' must buy'. Andy
  18. Have a 7" of Barry White on the uk Club logo. Drop me a line if you need it.
  19. The group which Larry was in was Truth along with Leo green who you talked about. Cutting 45s for Devaki, Soc and philly groove. Some really great info chaps, and as for the gun as the burglar alarm, that's quality.
  20. Kool Blues 'Can we try love' Capsoul £400 couple of very light marks, and mild storage dish. otherwise m- . Plays superb. One of the best copies around and very in demand . CP Spencer 'Still holding on' Monarch test pressing Offers - This is the very same copy that can be viewed on popsyke and was intended for release on Motown1272f in 1973, however the 45 was never released and was only made available on the Motown cd 'Year by year in 95. Just like much of his work with the Originals a wonderfull love song and the only way to own it on 45. I have never seen another copy, so in essence a very rare motown 45. There is a little water damage as you will see on the popsyke image, but the playing surface is great with just a few paper scuffs. Paypal please, and full refund if not happy. Cheers Andy
  21. Could someone please tell me how on earth a record is protected better in a new mailer with new cardboard than recycled?. It is Certainly not going to sound any better because it's in a new mailer. Given that all cardboard protection bends very easy one way (along the line of the corrugation, but is very stiff the other way) I am shocked at how many people send records with the corrugation on the cardboard inner all running the same way. If folks are paranoid about records breaking then 6mm ply from b&q is the best bet, the bigger the sheet you buy the cheaper it is. Even if you get the smallest sheets will get you 18 mailer protectors for about 30p each. Cutting a seven inch square with a saw is hardly rocket science and Much stronger than any cardboard. As for postage rates, well the same people have been taking the piss for years. Would have thought anything more than 50p on top of the actual postage is taking an unnecessary advantage of somebody who very often struggles to afford the purchase in the first place.
  22. Thanks for your thoughts on this one. I have offered it to someone, if it falls through I will post it up in sales. Cheers Andy
  23. Was considering offering this one up in the sales. Not to sure on current value. Any advice appreciated. Cheers Andy
  24. Only got the solid blue copy. But looks like some confusion regarding the credits.
  25. Was thinking of posting these up in my next sales, but have little clue on the current value. Any opinions appreciated. Derwin Woods 'Is it love' Winjam 1984 Alfie Capers 'Lady be good to yourself' Capers 1981 (former Main Ingredient & Platters member) Andy
