  1. Just heard that Neil Griffin track, especially like the 'What Can I Do' side, could get a shout at a Northern do no probs. Don't think it's the ABC-Paramount group of labels though? Sorry for going off on a tangent.
  2. Well, this is on it, Mark...
  3. Oh, cheers for the info Graham 👍 According to the comments on the 'Oh Baby' youtube clip this Phyllis Brown is a white girl also.
  4. Years out of time but here's the group (who are also 'Sunny & Phyllis)... This group is made up of Sonny Threatt (middle back) and Phyllis Brown (seated), she scored big on the Northern scene with 'Oh Baby!'
  5. How many issues were there? I have 11.
  6. Just to add, Rob, It did get an official UK release too, as I'm sure you are aware...

I see where you looked, on discogs, but the Probe UK came out in 1973 and the ABC UK came out in 1974. So the Probe 45 is UK first press. Discogs contradicts itself, if you click on the Probe release this is what is says in the notes: The first UK release of these 1967 recordings, due to demand from the northern soul scene.
  8. Jimmy James & Vagabonds do a good version but Turley wins it for me.
  9. Yeah, that's what I've always assumed.
  10. Just wondering now if my red issue is an original?
  11. Soul-slider replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
So, as I suspected the 1st UK issue is the one on Probe.
  12. Still no photo of the group?
  13. Yeah, and then a little bit later someone emailed Radio 2 and asked for 'Under My Thumb' and Zoe played the Rolling Stones and said "There's another Northern Soul classic" 🙄 bless her.
  14. Just for reference here's a former discussion on the topic.... https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/93163-soul-searcher-how-many-version-which-labels/
  15. If you read the description it actually says it was a 'white labelled' copy that had water damage so I can only presume they used a photo copy for the label?
  16. Found this one from 2006, Clifford Curry on the flip...
  17. I only know of the 'Outta Sight' lookalike (but easy to tell). There seems to be one from a box set too? Alternate version? Look here... https://www.45cat.com/record/osv008
  18. You cannot deny the man's dancing credentials, and he really loves the record. If he was my son I'd be as proud as anything. Kudos to him! BTW he's too old to be my son, just putting that out there 😉
  19. There's a re-issue on British cheap.... https://www.discogs.com/Various-Cancer-Is-A-C-II-Charity-Fundraising-45/release/5434288
  20. I know I'm late, but, Average White Band 'Show Your Hand' (MCA) from their first album.
  21. This thread gives me a chance to mention a great out and out Northern Soul dancer that I've just found, it's in the Tempests 'Someday' mode and it's by the Swingin' Medallions on their first LP. Track is 'M.T.Y.L.T.T' (More Today Than Yesterday) on Smash...check it out, it would go down a storm!
  22. They keep mixing him up with Ben Atkins who was a white soul singer....
  23. Well, it actually say's 'Wait A Million Years' - The Grass Roots? And I've found the LP...
  24. Been buying off John for at least 40 years. He did run Soul Bowl from West Winch (after Portland Street, still King's Lynn) for a period of time during the 90's and I used to visit there regular with a pocket full of cash. I remember getting these gems for between £20-30...Disciples Of Soul (Running Back), Majjestees (Mutt), Four Pros (Just Another Girl), Billy Hambric (Drum), Gene Chandler (Mr. Big Shot) among others. Rest easy big man.
