  1. Hi Will, Any more news on the Alvin Cash "Sweatin' instrumental coming out on a 45?.
  2. This seems like a cock-eyed solution. The seller admits his error but you have to pay for return postage?. Return it yes but you should get a full refund for the whole transaction. You should not be a loser at all.
  3. With 12 days to go there's no rush!.
  4. Hi Steve I hope you are right. I missed today's show as well not having SKY+ at my place.
  5. Recorded SKY between 6-8 this morning but no Richard Searling Show!. Just a tape of 80's disco & soul with no DJ. What a waste of time.
  6. SKY failed to record this for me at a friends place. I'd like to hear it or download it. Can anyone help set this up? Thanks.
  7. Hi Anybody got this song on a 45 and wants to sell it to me?. Thanks!, Phil
  8. What an asset the Motown group had working for them!. RIP Maxine
  9. Hi Roburt Which CD is that then?. Thanks
  10. Perhaps he may have given the 45 away in the early days in their first shop but Dave never gave me a copy. He did give me some great soul magazines when the second shop was about to close in 1970.... and lots of advice!.
  11. This will be worthwhile listening. Looking forward to it.
  12. I remember meeting Randy Cozens for the first time at that Baker Street pub in 1979 .It always stuck in my memory that he loved Mary Love's music so much that he'd brought his uk 45 copy along!. Enthusiasm is infectious and I made it my business to investigate all of Mary's recordings after that day. I am glad I did. RIP Mary
  13. You nailed it .Perfect tribute!.
  14. Bobby Bland made a huge impression on my early soul & R&B listening. What an incredible body of work he has left us!. I love nearly all of the Duke material ...B sides included. Thanks to Dave Godin for pointing the way in the many Bobby Bland sides he wrote about. Anyone wanting some related inexpensive reading material ought to pick up Charles Keil's "Urban Blues" book in which Bobby's on-stage act circa 1965/6 is observed.
  15. One of my musical heroes dating from my first trip to the Soul City shop in 1968 and buying the Five Stairsteps Windy C LP there. Loved it and was a big fan of most of the group's stuff from then on. So sad for the Burke family.

An inspired thread!. Thanks for starting it. All of your selections show great taste. Is there any chance of Ace/Kent doing a compilation?. In the meantime does anyone have the Belter LP for sale?. Phil
  18. This interview brought back so many memories of those times. Lots of laughs too!. Recommended listening.
  19. I've got a taped radio interview that Steve Hobbs did with Ronnie in the late 1980's. Ronnie didn't mention an LP for this period although he picked out "My Baby" as a favourite from his catalogue .Steve played the 45 but didn't ask on air about the label's reference to an LP.
  20. I would put forward names like Rod Dearlove for his dedication & personal style of writing about Soul in his magazines. Also, David Cole for keeping the flag flying with his magazine. Steve Plumb for his writing,dj work and good taste in soul music. Top of the list for me is the late Dave Godin, who did it ALL with soul and then some...
  21. I'd buy a complete DF double cd package or separate cd's from each "era".
  22. Paul Thanks for your help.
