I bought a Clara Hardy for 800 dollars...which at the time was about 400 quid , And I'm sure I'm not alone on this one. As we now know at least 50 turned up, Come on hands up!! who else has.

Oh and years ago at the Queens Hall in Bradford i sold a dark blue issue of can't lose my head...Have never been sure(for sure) if it was a bodifidie original, it had an "mr" stamp and had great fidelity. But i do still kick myself for letting it go.

I get sellers remorse after just about every transaction.

A buddy of mine was trying to hunt down a tomangoes One day asked me if I wanted to hit an estate sale a few states away with him (estates owner had thousands of 45s), was too lazy to say yes so he also turned down the sale.

Few months later finally got his tomangoes, from a seller who had found it, in a pile, at an estate sale a few states away.

selling a big part of my collection mid-90s that contained hayes cotton, vince apollo,victors, roy hamilton issue. jewel akens,jewels, bernard williams, preston peters, misty moore, syng mcgowan, to name but a few...................................... for the pricey sum of £300.

I've managed to block most of the faux pas' out of my memory, but the odd one still haunts, like getting a copy of Jesse Johnson on Old Town for a few $'s but not really taking a fancy to it and giving it away to my brother, for free. Or giving away a near complete set of Blues & Soul up to 1974 - including the successive issues which covered Dave Godin's visits to The Wheel, wher he first coined the phrase 'Northern Soul' - to the ruthless, blagguard of a carpetbagger that is Jock O'Connor...

found a copy of luther ingram - run for your life' at a boot sale 50p

got home played it and thought its a bit slow so i gave it away, didn't know it was worth about £150 at the time.

Found a Timi Yuro in a junk shop in Truo 20p - at the time Baby Washingtons version was being played so I sold the Timi Yuro for £5.00

Another time sold a Sugar & Spice on Swan demo for a fiver, thinking this wont take off - how wrong can one be !

I have also blocked the painful memories of f##k ups from my memory but I still get the "cold sweats" when I think of what I let Ty Karim - Lighting Up on Romark go for.

A dealer/collector had given me a few addresses to go to in the states, as soon as I got back he was round to see what I'd found and as I was stoney broke I ended up letting Andy Fisher go for £20 OOOUUUCCCHHH. To make it worse I hadn't even taped it, what a tit!!!

sold/lost/misplaced lots over time. the biggest cock up i made was losing my Frank Beverly on SASSY . to this day i dont know what happened to it.

Also if anyone has my signed copy of 'how sweet it is' (Jr Walker) on SOUL, please can i have it back? i had it nicked at a gig in Rock City , Nottm around '83! thanks

was a mobile dj in the early eighties lost a box of 70 early motown out the back of the van somewhere near waddington when i realized unloading the next day went back to look but no joy still grieves me now to think about it.

left around 300 unknown at the time, detroit based singles in a record shop in birmingham in 77 , went back weeks later to get them and guess what they had gone ,often wondered what was there

I have had quite a few over the years:-I had 6 issues of Sam Dee's lonely for you baby sold for £12 each, the Silhouettes on Goodway sold to PEP £20, Ted Massey got the Ringleaders on M-PAC £6, I was pissed? and many others 10 copies of AC Ride on Cool AND Larry Aiken Lighten Up issue on Highland(NEVER SEEN A DEMO) paid £3 each sold them for £8..If you ask any dealer they will all have similar stories especially from the 8ts.

I said to Dave 'can you see if you can sell these records for me mate, a couple of not so

well known tracks and 3 played out oldies'. I then said 'Try and get me around £20 if you

can as Ginger has promised to sell me his copy of Margaret Mandolph now that its been pressed'

Dave duly obliged and got me the £20 so I was well pleased and bought him a couple of beers.

Oh, the records he sold for me to buy Margaret Mandolph were.....

About 3 weeks ago, I was in a popular neighborhood here in Mexico City and saw some LPs and singles in a street racket (not sure if that's the term in english?), so I stopped. They were mostly Beatles & stuff, but there was a Yardbirds EP with Pic Sleeve. "How Much is it?" "50 pesos (around 2.50 quid, I know it doesn't sound like too much, but you can have a very decent meal with that), they're collectable records you don't see anywhere else" I hate this kind of comments, just because they're old and dusty doesn't mean they're collectable, and of course you can find them in a lot of other places, I'm not an idiot!! I was in a bit of a hurry, so I left it there. Went home and searched popsike, finding it was going from 50 up to 130 dls. Should have buyed it!

Last friday I was around again, and of course, it was gone...

Here goes, sold my copy of Billy Hines knowing there were only 2 known at the time ( 1977 ) for a mere 60 quid. Had to pay 900 to get it back last year after it ended up in the U.S.A. Now thats what you call a wood duck lol. No worries though as there are still only 3 known copies and it's a brilliant tune. And NO, NO, NO it ain't for sale. Tony T BONE. OZ. K.T.F.

Agreed. The original was never pressed at Monarch Recording of Los Angeles. However the original should have what looks like a very fancy (and small) capital B stamped on both sides.

I went to his house to swap/buy stuff just before he left for Australia. I got loads of brill stuff and then he asked me if I wanted to buy the lot for about £500. I had the money but was taking the girlfriend away for a weekend in Blackpool. So I said no.....Looks like I got F----d twice on that weekend.

ALSO BROWSING ROUND BARNSLEY MARKET BOUT TWENTY ODD YEARS AGO CAME ACROSS A BARBARA MILLS ON UK BLACK PYE DISTRIBUTED UK ORIG OF QUEEN OF FOOLS PRICED AT £4, BUT LEFT IT COS I'D JUST INVESTED IN A LONDON DEMO £8.
