This may have been covered before but are the copies of Four Tracks that keep coming up for sale definite originals

Also, what's a realistic value on it now

yes they are kev. the spivens guy in the states that sold copies in 2008 has started listing them again .1 a week or sometimes 1 every 2 weeks. it does seem to be keeping some sort of value though because it was so rare before and demand is still high. still £350 /400 of anyones money.

27 of the copies that this seller has sold has showed up on Popsike and Collectors Frenzy, plus he's got one copy on eBay right now, so it's defintiely more than a 25 count box.

Makes you wonder how many he has exactly ?

I personally wouldn't risk more than I could afford to lose on it, since theres a serious chance of it turning out to be another Danny Moore or Royal Esquires - so $300 would be my top bid.

Why would anyone wanna that amount of money for an average ballad...one record that truly leaves me cold when spun...

Thats because everyone plays it upside down Mark. The flip Voo Doo Man is superb. I do like the topside too just not as good as the so called 'B' side.

this could certainly be true joe. when i wrote my initial post i put 100 count then changed it to 70. certainly in the first couple of weeks after he surfaced with them with the first copies a handful of people got second chance offers. i myself were party to a 10 count that came over the first week he put them on with a couple of friends of mine but after the first couple of weeks he got greedy and just auctioned one every other week on ebay. the copy that he just sold ended up going for nearly $600 today

isn't the group from Toledo, not Detroit, and related to the magnificent opinions on Skippyophonic (who recorded in the 80s)?

Yep LYLFM is an average tune with a underplayed and excellent b side IMHO

The record was recorded and made in Detroit!

I believe it was recorded in the same studio's that Correc-Tone etc, used. It was manufactured by Archer.

After hearing you play records in the DDA etc, I can say I am disappointed in your opinion about this record!

Voodoo Man belongs in some R&B/mod room with Charles Sheffield etc! I'll stick with Northern Soul!

There's examples of records being over priced every day, Gene Toones is another. Yet there was a record listed on here t'other day for £50, Wallace Johnson (or was it a touch more?) Seen more of some of the tiltes you mention in a month than I've seen of Wallace Johnson in 3 years, so why the large price difference?

The seller should sell them now for a fair price and not keep trying to fleece collectors. Surely he has had his moneys worth selling approx 100 copies or so last couple of years?

Good records only get crucified by DJ's with no imagination.

this again is true. about 90% of these so called rare soul45`s are overpriced IMO. nobdy can fault anybody for maximizing the potential of records but if something struggles to sell surely the price should come down. a lot of sellers out there carrying records with big price tags on em that maybe shouldn`t have
