April 15, 201015 yr Anyone know how many he turned up - I remember some saying it was a 25 count box and some said up to 100 27 of the copies that this seller has sold has showed up on Popsike and Collectors Frenzy, plus he's got one copy on eBay right now, so it's defintiely more than a 25 count box.
April 15, 201015 yr Why would anyone wanna that amount of money for an average ballad...one record that truly leaves me cold when spun...
April 15, 201015 yr No, surely not Mark? It's brill, I was ecstatic when I bought my copy from Ian Clark in the late 80's at Peterborough. I think it was the princely sum of £25. I remember hearing Roscoe Shelton-You're The Dream and Benny C. Oliver-Make It Now for the first time on the same night. TT

HE SOLD 70 OR SO COPIES IN 2008 THEN LAST YEAR NEVER SOLD ANY AT ALL UP UNTIL CHRISTMAS. SINCE THEN HE`S LET S DOZEN OR SO MORE OUT. HE MUST HAVE FOUND ALL THE OLD STORE STOCK IN ONE HIT BECAUSE UNLIKE SOME DETROIT GOODIES IT NEVER SOLD OR GOT DISTRIBUTED AT ALL UPON RELEASE DAVE

April 15, 201015 yr HE SOLD 70 OR SO COPIES IN 2008 THEN LAST YEAR NEVER SOLD ANY AT ALL UP UNTIL CHRISTMAS. SINCE THEN HE`S LET S DOZEN OR SO MORE OUT. HE MUST HAVE FOUND ALL THE OLD STORE STOCK IN ONE HIT BECAUSE UNLIKE SOME DETROIT GOODIES IT NEVER SOLD OR GOT DISTRIBUTED AT ALL UPON RELEASE DAVE He must have sold in excess of 100 copies then, as he definately makes second chance offers. Makes you wonder how many he has exactly ? I personally wouldn't risk more than I could afford to lose on it, since theres a serious chance of it turning out to be another Danny Moore or Royal Esquires - so $300 would be my top bid.
April 15, 201015 yr Why would anyone wanna that amount of money for an average ballad...one record that truly leaves me cold when spun... Thats because everyone plays it upside down Mark. The flip Voo Doo Man is superb. I do like the topside too just not as good as the so called 'B' side.
April 15, 201015 yr Why would anyone wanna that amount of money for an average ballad...one record that truly leaves me cold when spun... I agree. I can't stand LMLFY. The other side though... that is a different story. Voo Doo Man is superb!

April 15, 201015 yr I agree. I can't stand LMLFY. The other side though... that is a different story. Voo Doo Man is superb! "Like My Love For You" is total CLASS Detroit Soul and I have thought so for 30 years, but I suppose it would not be good if we all had the same taste in music!
April 15, 201015 yr "Like My Love For You" is total CLASS Detroit Soul and I have thought so for 30 years, but I suppose it would not be good if we all had the same taste in music! To you maybe. But to me it is not even average. Like you say it is all down to taste. What do you think of the other side? Anyway, if anyone has a copy that only plays VDM then I'm your girl
April 15, 201015 yr "Like My Love For You" is total CLASS Detroit Soul and I have thought so for 30 years, but I suppose it would not be good if we all had the same taste in music! isn't the group from Toledo, not Detroit, and related to the magnificent opinions on Skippyophonic (who recorded in the 80s)?

I hope it does become another Danny Moore, then I'll get a copy! Unbelievable that Danny Moore became an unplayable record just because it surfaced in quantity, it is soooo good! Power to the knob wavers.

Power to the knob wavers. Don't get me wrong, I hope that he has 1000 copies so that I can get one when the price plummets.

Anyway, if anyone has a copy that only plays VDM then I'm your girl i agree with you joan , that awful plod plod plod and those annoying repetitive lyrics , rubbish to dance to the b side is excellent though Edited April 16, 201015 yr by sarahleen
April 16, 201015 yr i agree with you joan , that awful plod plod plod and those annoying repetitive lyrics , rubbish to dance to the b side is excellent though Yep LYLFM is an average tune with a underplayed and excellent b side IMHO
April 16, 201015 yr Unbelievable that Danny Moore became an unplayable record just because it surfaced in quantity, it is soooo good! I second that emotion
April 16, 201015 yr isn't the group from Toledo, not Detroit, and related to the magnificent opinions on Skippyophonic (who recorded in the 80s)? The record was recorded and made in Detroit! I believe it was recorded in the same studio's that Correc-Tone etc, used. It was manufactured by Archer. Edited April 16, 201015 yr by Perception
April 16, 201015 yr rubbish to dance to Is that why its been played to packed dance floors in all the major venues for the last 25 years, or maybe its just the way you dance!!

April 16, 201015 yr To you maybe. But to me it is not even average. Like you say it is all down to taste. What do you think of the other side? After hearing you play records in the DDA etc, I can say I am disappointed in your opinion about this record! Voodoo Man belongs in some R&B/mod room with Charles Sheffield etc! I'll stick with Northern Soul! Edited April 16, 201015 yr by Perception
April 16, 201015 yr Voodoo Man belongs in some R&B/mod room with Charles Sheffield etc! I'll stick with Northern Soul! I was gonna risk a Webby type debate but there's no point. You stick with what you define as "Northern Soul". I'd probably never change your mind any way. Edited April 16, 201015 yr by ged parker

The guy who has them been very shrewd. BUT THE THING IS CHALKS. THERES PROBABLY STILL LESS COPIES IN THE UK THAN SAY FRANK BEVERLY ON SASSY OR FOUR PERFECTIONS ON PARTY TIME AND LOADS OF OTHER 45`S I COULD MENTION. PEOPLE PAY THEIR MONEY AND MAKES THEIR CHOICES I SUPPOSE. I WAS FORTUNATE WITH THIS 45 BUT I WOULDNT PAY WHAT ITS STILL GOING FOR KNOWING THE HISTORY WITH IT. I HOPE THEY DO DRY UP SOON COS I HATE TO SEE GOOD RECORDS CRUCIFIED. DAVE

Yet there was a record listed on here t'other day for £50, Wallace Johnson (or was it a touch more?) Seen more of some of the tiltes you mention in a month than I've seen of Wallace Johnson in 3 years, so why the large price difference? The seller should sell them now for a fair price and not keep trying to fleece collectors. Surely he has had his moneys worth selling approx 100 copies or so last couple of years? Good records only get crucified by DJ's with no imagination.
