laugh.gif:lol: and number 7 come to think of it

But Mr.B I am positive that Car Wash was played at WC by both Richard and Minshull :hatsoff2:

When I posted the tunes up this morning Phil , I had a nagging doubt in the canyons of my mind that " CW " may have been played

I never heard it played at WC when I was there at the time of its' popularity elsewhere .

Can someone confirm it was / they heard it played at WC ?

Yeah right and l never heard any Jackie Wilson records there either..:hatsoff2:

Tis nowt but a lie your honour The before mentioned Jackie Wilson had many a tune played at the Heart Of Soul, "The Who Who Song" being a fine example

The common and muck type of ditty that shall be known as "The Car Wash"

Was never played at the before mentioned establishment for nocturnal dancing and other recreational activities,

And so it will be sent for ever in to the hell and damnation that is called "Channel 4's greatest disco hits off all time"

That is of course til I get pi**ed at a party and tell everyone its a NS tune

Car Wash the Question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never heard it at Wigan,

Not saying it wasn't,

But I never heard it there,

Loads of other "New York Disco" tracks were played though

Car Wash was definitely played at Wigan.

I remember discussing with pals about how the 'walky backwards and forwards dance' - or 'lolloping" as we christened it - looked perfectly normal at the Ritz but strangely out of place at Wigan, as some guys lolloped out of their seats and onto the dancefloor to the handclap intro.

Nice one!! Read it and weep Malc and Grant!:thumbup:

Its humble pie for tea tonight then for me and Malc,

The posting about the walking backwards and forwards dance type thingy,

They all (The Mecca lot) did it at the Ritz, but I never remember anyone doing it at Wigan

And if I'm wrong then I'm wrong,Never heard it at Wigan myself though,I must have been in M's or having a Jimmy Riddle

For a few weeks there were several "Mecca" types, I remember the girls wearing dresses made out of bin liners and the lads wore big baggy sweaters and drainpipe jeans. They stood at the bootom left of the room if you were looking towards the stage.

The same goes for me Grant , as I refer in my defence to my earlier reply of / that " I never heard it played at WC when I was there at the time of its' popularity elsewhere "

In reply to Pete's earlier posting , it was Richard not Keith Minshull , that first played Miroslav Vitous' " New York City " .

ls it on an E.P.?

No , but the UK 7" release - see below - was released for some reason , at 33 ⅓ RPM .

Roberta Kelly " Trouble - Maker " / " Think I'm Gonna Break Someones Heart Tonight "

UK GTO , catalogue number # GT 71 ( 1976 ) / Format: : 7" Vinyl / 33 ⅓ RPM

The record also came out in 1976 on two other European labels , but these were 45 RPM , and had a different

B - Side to the UK release .

" Trouble - Maker " / " The Family " Atlantic ( France ) catalogue number # 10 722

" Trouble - Maker " / " The Family " Durium ( Italy ) catalogue number # DE 2894

Thanks for the info Mark, it just seemed a bit strange having it on that speed,

I looked further into why the UK release was 33 1/3 RPM , but to no real avail .

I thought it may have had something to do with the release being the album version ( 8 : 48 ) , but it was / is the edited version , which despite not stating the time of the track , is likely to be either 3 : 59 ( the French Atlantic release ) or

4 : 01 ( the Italian Durium release ) .

" Trouble - Maker " was the B - Side of the US release in 1976 : " Love Power " / " Trouble - Maker " ( US Oasis , catalogue number # OC 409 , Time 3 : 59 ) .

" Love Power " was a cover version of the 1967 recording by The Sandpepples , which was written by Teddy Vann

Just to clarify Pete, the walking backwards and forward dance, irecall vividly at Wigan being performed by Steve(Srange)Harrington ! and he had a long girlie type scarf wrapped aroung his neck as wellyes.gif him and Julie Dyke from Gloucester were dancing to Elusive. just a bit later he started the bin bag thing and cross dressing parties(ask the Blackwood guys they will verify)

Really strange what we remember considering what went down our necks!!

Steve

I thought you were cross dressing long before that:D

Did anybody else hear it there?

Sylvester ?

I would have said it could have possibly been played during the " anything goes " period at WC in 1977 , but as it was released in 1978 , I am very doubtful , but I am open to correction should it be creditable confirmed .

Never ever was...............ever!! :no::D

It was played on Saturday 21/10/78, it was my 18th birthday weekend & I had been to the oldies the night before. Don't ask me who played it I was off my box. It might have even been the pre nighter do in Mr M's, but certain it was main room during nighter. I remember thinking at the time what the f**k is this place coming to.
