Hi, does anyone know of any northern nights in the Sheffield and Chesterfield area that allow kids in. Mine are 12 and 9 , he likes to watch inbetween his nintendo but she loves dancing and is getting into soul .

My reply in the above thread (with a couple of alterations), ok that was mainly about niters but..

I hear what you're saying and in a way I can imagine it's nice trying to introduce your kids into Dad's music and night life, there's far worse things for kids to do or get in to. Personally don't mind seeing well behaved young 'uns at local friendly soul nights but would get annoyed with kids, and I mean kids under 10 running around all over the place, in peoples way, running in and out the bogs and mum & dad not seeming to give a fook about what the kids are up to or how much they're annoying others. Nighters, then for me it's a no no.

Having said the above about youngsters at local soul nights there is the other side of the coin. How would you feel if your 9 or 12 year old just happened to be near a group of blokes (and/or lasses) recalling the old days " I was fucking smashed mate, green & clears, bombers, we rolled a bloke, kicked the shit outta him and nicked the c-nt's motor, screwed a fookin' chemists in Uttoxeter blah, blah, blah". As a responsible parent you wouldn't be too chuffed about it, would you? However why should those same blokes have to huddle in a corner out of earshot at what in effect is an adult night, quite free and easy but have to be mindful of little ears listening.

if there aged nine and twelve you should be taking them to alton towers, not dragging them to a frigging soul night,get a grip ffs, broken britain rears its ugly head again

Obviously mate that's just an example, it could be less than that but similar kinda things said are a fact.

Surprised you've never heard folks talking about gear, car thievery and other naughty goings on.

The thing is you've got the choice of deciding they're w*nkers, telling 'em they're w*nkers, moving to the other side of the room or leaving alltogether. Apart from moving to the other side of the room kids don't have that choice.

Take Them To Macdonald,s.

Many moons ago, I rang Sylvia Croasdell and asked if she thought it was a good idea to bring my kids (My 1^st litter) to Cleethorpes, she politely said "No, I think it best they stay at home really" I took her advice and didn't think too much about it......Until after I'd been to Cleethorpes.....Nuff said! Lol

Pretty sure you would be ok to take them very early doors at an All-dayer though; I always take my two kids (2^nd litter) to the first couple of hours at The Wellingborough All-dayer as its spitting distance from my house.

I personally wouldn't take them to an evening event as I think it would be irritating to other people...In saying that I used to hate kids in Restaurants until I had em!

all the venues i attend are "friendly" however , i dont want other peoples kids there, its a adult environment, you could always do what i did, if i couldnt get a baby sitter i didnt go out, thats the sacrifices that most responsible parents make, regards your comment of making the mistake of putting soul source and friendly in the same sentence, its a discussion forum, you asked a question and i gave my opinion, thats how it works

Whilst not in the Sheffield or Chesterfield area, one of my mates bought his little daughter to the Stute in Melton Mobray, she wasn't any sort of problem, and looked like she was enjoying herself. Yes the northern scene is an adult environment, but I'd like to think most of us can allow for the odd kid, we're pretty much big kids anyway

Doh! As stated above, these are my '2nd litter' so, god they're not the originals! ....In my defence, it didn't say 'O.C.O' (Original Children Only) on the flyer......

There was a guy at Boogaloo Soul the other week with two children, both dancing with him and enjoying the music - didnt bother me (I thought it was quite nice that they where happy to join in with thier Dad's hobby, rather than look at a load of negative's) and didnt seem to bother anyone else in there either.

They were there last time I went to Boogaloo last summer - all dressed in purple Harringtons and sta press - had no problem with it and made me smile. Took my own daughter there too - mind you she is 21.
