The lead singer apparently had given Angela's characters mum one, behind the Casino apparently! I think Ian McShane was in it as well. Just found it...Soul Survivors ..Around the same time as the Talahassies appeared in Soul Survivors Leny Henry appeared in a soul band doing cover versions, they appeared on TV but it was cringeworthy and I have deliberatley forgotten their name. .
