Saw a video on YouTube of San Remo Strings-I Have Faith in You. Sounds like an instrumental of the Doni Burdick version. Has anyone got any more info on this. Was it ever released and if so how much are you roughly going to pay for a copy?

Cheers!

Mike

No idea why they'd call it San remo Strings. It's the Detroit Symphony and was procured by Mr. Soussan when he released Bari Track, gave it out on a couple of acetates.  Not released until a Goldmine LP late 80's then on a white label as the B side to a pressing of Barbara McNair.  Both were pressed slightly too fast.

Fantastic tune!

Is this the version that Guy used to play?

Dave, didn't he used to play Back Street purely instrumental version?

You might like this too Pete!!

Absolutely amazing Rob, where are you getting this stuff, I can't believe there's an instrumental to Please Operator, was really enjoying ripping the audio out of that one until it faded out at 1 minute 30

Yes it was Back Street instrumental, but it's a completely different mix to the one on the single

Picked my copy up about 25 years ago beautiful sound very atmospheric with a top sound system stands up well to the two vocal versions .3 top sounds.

                               Kind regards Mick Lyons

Could only put samples on because of  those damn bootleggers Pete! Detroit is the city that just keeps on giving lol

Dave, on that clip above, Rob's put the different version up...no backing vocals etc

Please Operator - So despite having no Detroit credits on the label at all, that I could see - is that a Funk Brothers track, recorded in Detroit?

I had no idea.

Ah, no sound at work unfortunately.

Don't s'pose you have a clip of the backing track to "Sweeter Than The Day Before" do you Rob...an ex occasional spin for Mr.Hennigan.

They sound absolutely fantastic. I never fell out of love with instrumentals. Tremendous musicianship.

And the Going to a Happening track is mind-blowing as well!!

I wish I did - if I come across it I'll post it.

Recorded at Theme Productions in Detroit with the Funks.

I'm looking for this myself for the Stafford Story. Guy played it again at Dean Anderson's 50th last year.

These have been just brilliant, instrumental of Call On Me (Barbara Mercer) and a string-less version of Lucky To Be Loved which I've never heard before

Brilliant Rob - just fantastic mate..

Yeah that actually came out on a Goldmine cd, one of the early ones, I'm sure it did, credited to George Kerr Orchestra or something like that

SAN REMO STRINGS DETROIT SYPHONY OCHESTRA,FUNK BROS,all played one time or another in one another's bands.

 Mick

Same people.

Wow! fantastic stuff Rob! what else is out there then?

Same people.

If not a daft question - how can a symphony orchestra be the same as an 8 piece or whatever band  :g:

I mean you can hear that it is actually an orchestra playing on the record, there must be a dozen string instruments on there

WOW!!!.................A thrill a Moment backing track :shhh:   :sweatingbullets:     Will this pleasure never end!

I suppose its too much to hope that you are on a train heading east from Moscow to Siberia where

your mobile wont work for a week or so.

This is just awesome. I am struggling to come to terms with the fact that so many of these exist and have been kept so quiet. Surely stuff of this quality deserves a commercial release?
