Following on from the huge success of the "Show us your bird and wildlife photos" thread (some 31 pages and a staggering +1500 posts), I thought it time to start a "part 2".

As we don't always have the opportunities to take bird or wildlife photos, but nonetheless might be taking great photos of other things, I  thought a broader approach might encourage even more people to share their top photos.

They can be anything to do with nature, landscapes, outdoors, indoors, superb holiday snaps - basically, whatever. If you think it's a good photo and you want to share it, this is the place.

Here's three from me...

Goose - seen showing off in the woods of Amsterdam.

Sunset - as seen from our balcony last summer.

Filey, N Yorks - what a beautiful place. We were here for my younger brother's wedding.

Nice brickwork on the gable end!!

Very nice parish church all round. It dates back to the 16th century, apparently, and was built at a time when there were only something like 90 houses in the village. Of course, much of it has been rebuilt over the centuries and it had to be expanded as the local population grew.

2) Wengen, Switzerland.

All taken on my iPhone but after seeing previous pictures I've decided to get a proper digital camera.

We took our holidays to Wengen this summer. Had a 7 day train, much of it steam, journey around the area, including Pia Gloria

A lot of  tadpoles in a tiny puddle, it was in May and the puddle would soon be dry. Poor little things !

Russell. This new thread is going to double the amount of pictures and people taking part compared to the last bird and wildlife one. Nice one. Loads more pictures to admire and comment on.

You're right, Steve. Really great to see so many contributions already - and lots of terrific photos. Looking forward to seeing how it develops (pun intended)!

Great shots! Amazing what you can do with a telescope and a camera!:wink:

Great to see the Vulcan. I spent my early years in Waddington Lincs opposite the Vulcan Bomber base watching them take off every day. My special trick was to get lost at air shows and have my name read out over the tannoy.

Nice - I do like these mountain landscapes. My older brother's close to completing the Munros and he regularly sends spectacular shots from his excursions.

Only walked a couple of mountains in scotland, the Ben and Merrick near to Newton Stewart. Been up there a few times though and off to Skye in May. Favourite place is Snowdonia. Have a peek at my walks below

If it's possible, can people try and resize their photos and make them smaller? Some of them posted are absolutely huge and are way too big to be seen properly on screen.

It's just a suggestion, but if you can reduce the width of images to somewhere between 700 pixels and 1200 pixels then I reckon most people should be able to see them ok.

As a technophobe is it a simple process as I wouldn't have a clue?  I'm not usually allowed metal scissors

Right-click on the file ... click on the "Open image in - "Paint" option

When open in Paint select "Resize" at top left ...

Select "Pixels" ... change the size in the boxes shown .

Then "Save As" whatever you wish to call the new version.

Saving as a PNG file should prevent any nasty JPEG compression artifacts .

Thanks Steve, I'll give it a go

The winds off the Atlantic blow the sand way up onto the road that leads to Punto Paloma, and they clear the roads several times daily because of the dunes, great area for windsurfing.
