I love tunes like Sweets - "something about my baby" or Big Maybelle's "it's raining."

I'm sure people out there have tons of other great suggestions. I am looking to blow up my want list!

thanks!

It had a thread all of its own back in December, seems it acetate only, (a demo disc for other artists) and a version exists by Jimmy Delphs.

Dream record I can only dream about owning, ps I think the soul girl dance clip has a better recording.

anybody know where I can get a copy of Dream Dancers...looks a great comp!

Is this the best thread ever on here. Female big beat ballads. It doesn't get any better. These tunes make me go weak at the knees.

oh yes Steve, there is certainly something about 'female ballads/midtempo or northern tracks included? maybe thread should be extended to include these?? surely more will put their favourites on here??? even include 'POPCORN if that's what others like? got an older sister who is a massive fan of that!! xx

Nice thread !

Gotta have some more Dusty - a little more upbeat here but soulful to the max:

Well that was a great dinner hour!! one from me I don't think has been posted!

Anita Bryant - My MInd's Playing Tricks On Me Again - for me this is one of the best beat ballads ever, arranged by the same guy who did Ray Pollard's The Drifter

liking the way the chorus builds up on this one then slows back down to chorus   :) x

Andrea Davis aka Minnie Ripperton, who was also in the girl group 'The Gems', wonderful and chilling with those vocals? x

This is one of my favourites. Usually with a female singing the words don't really apply directly to the male listener but this case when I hear the words 'When you see that boy, walking down the street' and 'I really love that boy, cos he's my pride and joy' I think of my faithful Boxer dog Billy who died around the time I first heard this tune. <3

WOW. What a tune never heard that before. Minnie Ripperton. What a talent, taken from us far to soon. 1977 if I remember correctly. Thank you Shelly for posting.

Steve. X

big thanks to all posting ,some amazing records ,as someone said earlyer, think some are midtempo , not beat ballards but loving them all , as for the beat ballards , some known, lots not ,an amazing thread , need to start hunting again, keep posting all

On a roll now with this from Carolyn Cooke,  a proper beat ballad!

I'm amazed no one was interested Pete. It always reminds me of the Dome, finally got a copy last year from Paul McKay.
