Which is being produced by Universal. I wonder where they will get the records pressed ?

If you've got the the other records in the Chess Box set, you're paying £85 for Etta James – Can’t Shake It

  • Would I be right in saying that OUTSIDERS - LONELY MAN will be the first legit issue on a seven, and therefore classed as the original release on a seven.

Two excellent box sets there (Capitol & Chess) but wow they are certainly expensive £82, think I'll wait til they come down in price

Considering the Tamla motown 7s box sets were approx £50 each £80 is a bit steep. Let's hope these play properly for the extra money!

I had email, yesterday saying they are £44.99 per set

Would not count on that have recently bought Georgie fame single with sweet thing and three other tracks, first one skips both sides and replacement jumps as well but only one side, looking at not purchasing anything by universal again.

I think most people that fancy this will be happy to pay but I do think give us something that really is a collectors piece with some quality heavy vinyl, decent lable repros and records that actually play. Most of all lets see some respect for the artists, song writers and production who put these great tracks together.

They will come down in price, at Christmas Universal were selling the motown box sets for £20.00 after pretending that the first one was a limited issue. Money grabbing scum.

These look really good and I'm sure a realist price will be established. Even so  I don't think the one announced is extortionate. Maybe just a little on the high side.

I just hope that buyers don't start splitting these up a la Motown. Each record  is a part of  the whole package. It's the "wholeness" of the item that gives it it's validity or status as a collectors item. As such whether some of the tracks have been released before is to a large extent irrelevant as long as it's all kept together. (in my opinion).

To be honest I go the other way, I wish they'd sell them separately because there's loads of stuff I've already got and would only be wanting maybe 2 singles out of each pack.

"A rarity is thrown in for good value too, Joy Lovejoy doing ‘In Orbit’ – with very little known about this particular singer and the song even today."

Has anybody bought either of these yet - if so, how's the quality of the pressing ?

27th July is the release date so a few days yet.

No John Manship has them now I've just bought the Capitol one, it came earlier this week.

Quality is good:thumbsup:

Had to do a double take when I saw the Capitol box set reviewed in this month's What HiFi.  A five star review with So Is The Sun the stand out track.
