:hatsoff2:WOULD YOU ADAM & EVE IT, THE MACHINE IS BACK, AS YOU MAY BE AWARE MY MANY YEARS OF LIVING THE HIGH LIFE ON THE RARE SOUL SCENE WITH IT'S ALL NIGHTERS & ALL DAYERS, ESPECIALLY BACK IN THE 1970s, WHEN I LIVED IN LETCHWORTH, MY WEEK WOULD BE SOMETHING LIKE THIS:- THURSDAY NIGHT, GO TO BEDFORD WITH MICK SMITH, FRIDAY WIGAN OLDIES BUYING & SELLING 45s IN THE BAR WITH MICK SMITH, ADY C, & PETE WID,  SATURDAY NIGHT BLACKPOOL MECCA (OR AS I USE TO SAY, GOING TO BLOCKPOOL TO SEE THE HALLUCINATONS). THEN ON TO WIGAN ALL NIGHTER, SUNDAY THE RITZ OR CAT WHISKERS OR SAMANTHAS ALL DAYERS, THEN MAKE MY WAY HOME, SO COMPARED TO SOME PEOPLE WHO LIVED IN THE NORTH, US FROM THE SOUTH REALLY HAD TO BE PASSIONETTE ABOUT SOUL MUSIC...OR BLOCKED?

SO THE LAST FEW MONTHS, MY HEALTH HAS WORSENED, WITH TYPE 2 DIABETIS WHICH HAS LEFT ME WITH 50/50 CHANCE OF LOSING MY LOWER LEGS, SUSPECTED BOWL CANCER, HEP B&C, MY ADDICTION ISSUE PLUS OTHER STUFF, ALL LEADING ME HAVING TO TAKE 47 DIFFERANT TABLETS EVERY DAY, THEN THERE WAS A ISSUE WITH MY LAPTOP SCREEN, AFTER ME PUTTING MY FIST THROUGH IT LAST jANUARY AS I WAS IN A SULKING MOOD, BUT NOW I'M BACK, AS I have no sound files for these 3, if someone could put them on for me,

However I must show you the Craig Douglas on Indian $tateside don't know how rare it is but my copy is the only one i've seen, VALUE PLEASE

AT THIS TIME I MUST THANK YOU ALL FOR KEEPING THE CLUB ALIVE, SPECIAL THANKS GOES TO MIKE & A BIG THANKS TO KEV. I HOPE TO GET HIM A PINT IF HE GETS HIMSELF DOWN TO THE STABLE, JOHNNY BEGGS GETS THERE?

SO HERE WE GO AGAIN, IT SEEMS THAT KEV MADE NO RULES FOR THIS THREAD THAT'S COOL, HOWEVER I STILL BELEIVE THAT ANY RECORD ON THIS THREAD, YOU SHOULD OWN A COPY (thats what the club is all about. picking a 45 from  your collection, it does not matter if rare, northern, beat ballard, funk, motown, or JA Soul, my preferance is rare UK SOUL & classic northern origanals).Scan_20170323.thumb.png.5c9c0462172b53224892df07625a763e.png

Just seen one of these in sales. I have the album and the 45 somewhere. I think I got the 45 as a real bargain from the states - many years after I bought the album. Can't remember who played this first but pretty certain that it was a big Clifton Hall spin.

Bobby King - If You Don't Want My Love.

Unsure of the date on this, possibly pre his Hi recordings. As he wrote and produced this and had 4 out of 5 of the records on Royal - Tone did he own the label?

This has probably been discussed before but I can't find it any where.

Gene Anderson - Baby I Dig You

John

New to me & on first couple of plays quite catchy, maybe not quite right for "now" as they say but still half descent

Not that I was there but late Wigan biggie wasn't it?

I just bought some really nice new expensive Bowers & Wilkins speakers recently and this one sounds the business on them (from the album) - unbelievably crisp production for the time. Also sounded fantastic at Mark Freeman's modern niter the other week

Love this - remember it well as a big late 80's sound but was it played before that? Stafford?

I had  this Beverly Ann - You've Got Your Mind On Other Things arrive over the weekend so another off the wants list. :) :hatsoff2:

Just been re aquainted with this fabulous Sandra Philips track after landing an original West coast Gold issue.Fantastic Northern Soul and in my opinion better than World Without Sunshine

A close third behind Johnny Copeland and Barbara Lynn but still a winner for me. Johnny & Lilly - Suffering City.

Brilliant Northern Soul - Maurice Williams - Being Without You   :hatsoff2:

Picked up Marie Lyon's LP "Soul Fever" at the weekend cheap as chips in a second hand shop (the 2000 reissue of course, I'm not that lucky).

I also picked up a nice mint UK original copy of Charlie Palmieri's "Latin Bugalu" LP.

I've got some of Eddie Palmieri's stuff but not Charlie's, this LP's a real peach!

Forgot about this little bugga until the other day

Soul Crusaders - Those Memories - LuTall reckon I had this in the Cleethorpes days , haven't heard it since to be honest , sounds great loud !

:hatsoff2:Hi All .....How pleased was I to see Friday Browns, 32nd Love Affair, FONTANA. up for auction on Manships, Like most of us who started collecting rare soul back at the start of the 7ts (not exclusively) we enjoyed the search for an exclusive find to brag about to mates, as with so many rare UK soul records, back then I always could find the label but not the record, for many years I searched for the issue of Fathers Angels "Bok to Bach" MGM with no success, in the end I paid Mick Smith £30 for a copy I took of a shelf at his house and refused to replace it insisting it belonged in my collection (I still rate it as one of the real rare records to own), anyway back to Friday Brown, John's write up is bang on, in my opinion this is one of the most overlooked UK 45s when you consider it is 2017 not 1977, please if you don't know this classic play it at least 3x to realise what John is saying about it, and why I put it up with the very best NORTHERN DANCE records, plus a great B side for future play.

I rate this as a 5 star record, & one that only comes along, well never, it must be worth a bid? DAVE K.

Pure Class from Mr Fred Hughes - Don't Let Me Down    :)

Never tire of hearing this fabulous oldie from The Tymes - Here She Comes    :hatsoff2:

Maybe not everyone's cuppa but one that has that great 60t's/Mod feel to it.

Mel Torme-Power Of Love Columbia

Marlena can rock my boat anytime.  :hatsoff2:

Fabulous slice of 1960's Soul from Leslie Uggams - Don't You Even Care    :hatsoff2:

Wonderful Archie Bell & The Drells spinner - Tighten Up     :hatsoff2:

Finally got my hands on a copy of Cliff Nobles - My Love Is Getting Stronger.  What a sound....   :hatsoff2:

Good Quality spin from G Q - Make My Dreams A Reality    :hatsoff2:

Super Slice of Soul from Barrett Strong - Man Up In The Sky, not much to choose between this and the Johnny Bristol one. :g:  :hatsoff2:

Forgotten by many (?) an old Cleethorpes spin (for Poke I believe) .

Revived and went down well in main ballroom at Newquay Weekender , last weekend for Paul Rockey and one in the play box for Hoochie Coochie SOSA this month.

Jimmy Jackson ‘footsteps in the shadows’

Another great vocal outing from The Tymes, get one for the cost of a couple of pints
