Erm, what was that, northern soul on a Bontempo?

1. when you released a record recently and then include it on your 'greatest hits 1872 - 2023 you know your musical career is over. Presumptions or what? OK, so your auditioning it at Glastonbury this year, but not on the Legends slot yeah?

2. if you are going to do a cover, make an effort, put your own style on it, try BBC Live Lounge style  as opposed to a karaoke bar.

It was the date when  I was refused entry to Wigan as everyone would think I was DS. Should have sued for breaking my ankle in that hole in Mr M's!

Now what have I told you..... Wigan didn't open until 1873. I'm sure that hole was put there so that people could hide their "sweeties" in it. I mean, no DS would go near the dance floor, not in their big cream Gannex macs 😉🤫

Thanks for posting Mike, I'm afraid I only got a few bars into this, the plastic production and insipid band is frankly an insult to any of the 60's muscle Shoals productions, just saying, for a friend🫣😂

More evidence Northern Soul and the classy, cool underground scene it once was is now just a middle of the road market for has been musicians.  They are I guess trying to be hip and down with the kids but their interpretations just sound so dated, easy listening for pensioners. 

Who will be the first div to play this at a venue in a ridiculous attempt to be hip and upfront 🙄

She's been on some UK morning TV shows asking for NS dancers to come along when they film the video of the track.

 

I haven't listened to it, even though I posted it up originally. I was most interested that Spooner Oldham produced it, being his song.

FFS, its just a song that a band has decided to cover, that just happens to have been originally played on a once underground youth, club scene.  It was written and produced by a couple of white country-boys from the south.  I wonder how many Beatles fans moaned when the like of the Temps, Four Tops, Mary Wells and Aretha to name a few covered their recordings.

I agree John, not relevant really is it, only the good ones are relevant, so to speak... might I suggest this as something that I went crazy over a few years back, quite etherial this one... this is how to cover a great song... !

 

maybe Queen Latifah might hit the spot... she really gets the flavor of the original, I like this one allot.... I know this isnt 'Keep on talking' but there is only so much you can say about a middle of the road cover version...

I'm not bothered who covers whatever song, it's the quality of the cover that interests me. I like wholesome music, not homogeneous, insipid snoozefests.
