  • More money than sense some people. Do we have to suffer another m month of this record on here 🙄

  • He paid crazy money for it , holy grail record more like holy f**k not again.

  • It should go to Auction really , one of those starting at 99p , which would probably reveal it's true worth , or demand at this present time .

I am seriously think of buying it, but I'm only prepared to pay £149975.56, as it's going to cost me £24.44 to change my name to Kenneth by deed-poll!

It's ironic that Frank himself should ruin that records label  by scrawling that dedication all over it....it wouldn't be so bad if it was neat and tidy handwriting....😲😲😲

Don't understand why he'd want to sell it on anyway considering how much he paid for it unless he's skint .

Best way to find that particular records current value is to stick it in auction.

He evidently wants to make a 50% profit. Not sure whether the sale would be taxed or not, but if so, this would reduce the return on the investment. There will be other millionaires who could afford this item so let’s sit back and see what happens.

I thought there was another copy but somewhat damaged...can anyone confirm this?

It don’t matter really what Lee paid for it, it’s what it’s worth to you to own it! Only a select few will be in the market for this rare record and sometimes you just have to have it!! Good luck to all involved

But why buy it and then want to sell it so quickly ? Sounds more like an ego trip to me. If he had offered £50,000 for it, am sure the owner would have parted with it, doubling his money. Or was that another ego trip, look at me I've got £100 grand ?

The scene's gone mad, fakes and ego's in your face everywhere

He's not a good business man then, he could have bought it for half the amount he paid

Tax dodge ? Considering what the tax man is following now,,,  he Lee said he was going to give it a home for at least 10 yrs , 3yrs later ,,,

Maybe he just never played it.. it really should be played so why not sell it to someone who will play it not just look at it in a box tucked away .. rare records expensive records are a nice thing to have but also a liability if anyone goes near them … Accidents do happen as most of us have experienced 😡😪

Bullshit, it was outplayed in the late 70s , and thereafter , anyone with half a brain would never had payed 100k for a record only worth 25k , unless he wanted to make a statement , like the guys who payed $100 , for a barrel of oil , then wished they hadn't,

Who said he paid 100k for it? Just speculation!  Also does anyone really care what he paid and what he gets for it?

The Conduit said he did , & so did the press or was it just a hoax , & yes it does matter , because the next buyer  is probably going to get ripped off , 3 yrs later 50k profit , it's worth is probably nearer £20K tops .

It’s business my friend.. records change hands everyday mostly for more than we paid for them.. if you really wanted the frank Wilson you’d make an offer simple ..

Not if it's worth a 5th of the asking price I wouldn't, I already own 3 copies , 2 legitimate UK and a REISSUE  boot plus instrumental , purchased about 20yrs ago so not one of the recent nasty unwanted copies ,so why would I pay well over the odds , for an overpriced trophy copy  ?

This record deserves to be treated like an expensive painting. Frame it, hang it up a wall. And leave it there. 😉

But at what price ???

Best place for it is the Motown Museum but I would not think the powers that be have much interest in a record they had no desire to release.

Just as an Aside/Example.  When Chris Evans bought a Ferrari  (James Coburns  I think? ) after his big radio station pay out of around 40 million, paying something in the region of 8 million for it. many laughed and scoffed at his crazy record price!!. He said he bought it because he could afford it and wanted it, so paid up for it. Fast forward several years and the scoffers and critics went very quiet when it sold for around double that and has been reoffered not so long ago for something nearer 50 million!  .  So the morale of the story (for me) is people who can afford to do it will, those that can`t may scoff, berate, moan criticise whatever. but it wont change a thing. A better use of my/your?  time and effort would be to work out how they got to a place to be able to afford such a prize.

John Manship brokered the transaction quoted to be 100K. How much money actually changed hands is open to speculation! If he took a 10%, fee, arguably the record is worth no more than £90,000 although inflation over three years may well up this amount a bit. Yes, plenty of people are interested in the history and destiny of this record, notably those who could afford to buy it or part with some big trades to secure it.

As the saying goes, "Everything is for sale if the price is right"

Lee has simply advertised the fact and dumped a hefty price tag on it.

It gets him a lot of attention, this thread is testament to that.

I remember when he bought the record back in 2020, his drinks business got some publicity out of it too. Up until that point, I had no idea how he'd made his money. He's either shrewd or lucky, possibly both.

I think it’s a clever move .. test the water see who’s interested also free publicity on here.. rare record sell themselves with very little effort because most people want the same rare records, but frank Wilson I think is a bit more selective maybe because of the price it comes with.. would anyone on here offer a price for frank Wilson.. a hard record to sell in my opinion..
