Time Trouble & Money - Life & Times Of A Scooter Boy

Guest vinylvixen

My mate of many years, Brad Brough, has written a book....and I get a mention  I can tell you that it involved Brighton 1979, Margate Scout Hut and a trip up the big wheel at Dreamland.....further than that, you'll have to torture me....or buy the book. Read the blurb:

Time Trouble and Money - The Life and Times of a Scooterboy - Written by

Mark (Brad) Brough 232 pages - 63 original photographs - paperback book "A

true story of life within the Scooter Scene during the bleak years of the

Seventies and early Eighties. The Northern clubs carried the torch and gave

birth to the scene of today. An often ignored era of Scootering is covered

in some depth by Mark (Brad) Brough who rode Lambrettas with the Roadrats SC

from Scunthorpe during that time. Brad's story of life and his graduation

into the Scooter Scene will seem very familiar to most Scooterboys of that

era and also to those from todays scene. A gritty, personal and also

humorous account of that time will be easily recognisable to many

Seventies/Eighties Scooterboys and provide todays counterparts with an

insight into how it was and when it all began."

post-1898-1201400965_thumb.jpg

If you want a copy, give Brad a ring....01724 348812 or 07919005713 and he can supply direct. (Book is £9.99 + £1.50 P&P - Uk) - there are some great stories with photos in there....trust me, I was there :D

That was the author's scooter. I'm digging out some old '79 Southend/ Brighton snaps of the York SC & Road Rat scoots (remember the radiator grill backrests rolleyes.gif ) I'll scan them in and put them up on Freebasing or All Our Yesterdays.....

I've got a photo of that too, either from Great Yarmouth or a show at Gloucester Leisure Centre.

I know how to scan things onto my comp, but no idea how to put them on here. I've tried countless times but always fail miserabley.

Not sure....if it was after '83, I lost touch with the scooter scene. I don't remember seeing it but I do remember the Quadrophenia one with the 'photographs' on the leg shields and panels - I'm sure that was a Vespa too....photos, photos, where are my photos

Mark was like a rash - everywhere..............it's all in the book. I've got as far as 1977 - I'm saving 1978 for the train journey to Beckton this morning  Once I've found my photos, I'll start a thread in Freebasing...in fact, this could be moved to Freebasing and you can start adding your photos. There was a pink metallic lammy with all the soul labels on it at the 79 Southend Rally - just adding a bit of soul content :D Jo

Hey Jo - Managed to get on the "guest list" again and back into the forum - cheers for "bigging" the book up thumbup.gif and hope your enjoying it thumbsup.gif Dont know about me getting about a fair bit on TTM - you seemed to be everywhere we rode to and usually full of it :D

The book was a labour of love, before my memory fails completely and all proceeds are simply to pay off my bank manager (Dad) who loaned me the dosh to self publish & print it.

Copies are available from me thro' the forum or by email b.brough1@ntlworld.com and they are also now selling on www.scooterproducts.com.

I will be at the Kev Walsh LCGB parts fair in Doncaster (Sun Feb 17th - Adwick Leisure Centre) wiv' me pasting table creaking with books to sell, if anyones up that way or in the scooter fraternity.

Good to hear pics of TTM still floating about - I would be very grateful to anyone who has any pics of that scoot or any of my others, if they could send em' to me via email - I do collect pics from 70ts/80ts but hardly have any of TTM or myself as I was either bloody riding it or snapping other cool scoots :D

Cheers Jo xxx and Hi to everyone else biggrin.gif

Agreed !! Time Trouble and Money summed it right up and thats why it became the title of my book - although I must thank the missus for suggesting it - after racking me brains for weeks for a title, she dropped TTM and that was that
