Absolutely. Must have been bloody hard work!.

I remember reading in the mag, in one of Dave's rants that he really didn't like it when folks hung around the record bar, chatting, getting in the way and stopping people from getting to the records... I was so scared of him that I never stood around the records for more than a minute afterthat.. if someone stopped me for a chat in the cleethorpes record bar, I've always made a point of moving them away from the box of records we happen to be stood by.

I must admit to only ever buying a couple of copies of SKM in the past. However I haved used the website on a number of occasions, especially the discographies . Many thanks Mr Rimmer.

PS I hope that the website will remain.

It's a bit of a sad time, the mag has been part of my life for the last 18 years, but sales have dropped to a quarter of what they were five years ago (and I don't think the quality of the contents has dropped), so it just became a question of whether it was worth spending all that time producing it, and the cost of getting it printed to sell less than 200 copies which is what happened with the last one. It's a decision I've been thinking about for nearly a year now.

I don't think I did badly though. 72 issues (Plus 8 'Special' issues of discographies etc), all of which were over 40 pages, over an 18 year period (Bearing in mind I held a full time job, am married and have two, now adult children)

The website will remain, and will grow, so I'll be adding to the articles and CD reviews on there on a regular basis. And I was serious about writing for other mags. So Dave, Derek, Howard, and Mike (and anyone else I've forgotten) bear me in mind if you need something writing.

If any one wants back issues I have copies of most of the last twenty issues - £3 each including postage. I'll edit this post later and add a list of which issues I've got.

SKM has kept me going on trains. buses, back of cars etc after many a nighter. You have done a great job and deserve the acolades. I'd personallyl ike to thank you again for printing my thoughts in your 50th special issue when others probably wouldn't have. (Even though you didn't agree with my ramblings). Writing that article made me more than aware of how difficult just writing the stuff is never mind the production side of things.

I'm sure your pen or keyboard will not be idle long and good luck with finding that elusive publishing deal for Dave Rimmer's Northern Soul Bible Vol 2.

So sorry to read this although I fully understand about a drop in sales, printing costs etc. Still sad to read that a fanzine that has been so much a part of the scene - and for so long - has to cease print. An amazing amount of work, hours spent researching, typing and selling, it's bloody hard work I can tell and it's not for the money, there's bugger all to be made from fanzine's, a labour of love and a passion for the music is what's required and Dave Rimmer has that in abundance, SKM will be missed that's for sure. Glad the website is kept running and Dave, your writing talents will be most welcome for any future editions of Soul View

Really sad news, and absolutely shocked at such low sales figures, I just, naively obviously, thought anyone with more than a passing interest in the scene buys these magazines.

Another reminder that its not true that the quality things always survive these tough times, and a reminder to get out and buy any even remotely soul related publications before they all disappear.

Great effort Dave and as everyone says the website is a fantastic resource so glad to hear its staying.

Well done Dave, as a contributor to the mag in the early days, I can vouch for how hard it was for you to produce back then, with your plink plink typwriter, some great stuff printed over the years, and you can feel proud to have had your little place in the history of the scene with the SKM mag.

A huge thanks for all your hard work and support over the magazine's lifespan. Your championing of the 100 Club is something I'm forever grateful for. The mag gave Dave Godin his last way of saying hello and goodbye to the Northern Soul world which apart from the hundreds of other great articles you featured, gives it a guaranteed and important place in our history.

I can't think of many nighters that I have visited over the years where I haven't seen you, thank you for the time and effort you have given to SKM and the many other projects you have been involved with, you are a genuine guy and SKM will be missed by a scene that has its fair share of shallow and mercenary word Smiths, SKM has been an oasis in a desert of shite.

Dave you have always had my utmost respect for SKM.
