Being the record nerd that I am, I want all 45s from my collection to be in their matching company sleeve, but in many cases it's not very easy to find out which company sleeve is the fitting one for a record.

It's easy for labels like GSF that issued all their records in the same company sleeve (I think), but other labels (RCA, Brunswick, Atlantic etc.) with several different company bags are a bit harder.

Does anyone on the forum know a good source where I can find out which sleeves fit with a certain record. Maybe somewhere where I can find the periods in which certain sleeves were used, or even better, label numbers between which they were used?

Try Manship's site, for all company sleeves he states the respective period if there is more than one sleeve for a certain record label.

I don't know of any sites that specialise in this "fetish" but I know that Beatin' Rhythm in Manchester have a large stock of mainstream and obscure labels from different eras.

I think you should join Rod (modernsoulsucks) and I on the "1st 15 records in my box" thread...you sound just like our sort of people. The company sleeves I have I keep filed carefully away.

Agreed, but I even prefer a plain white sleeve above the 'bootleg sleeves'. In fact I even got up one night because I couldn't bear it anymore and I replaced all repro bag with plain white/brown ones. Before anyone asks...I do have a quite normal social life, but record collecting just seems to bring out the worst in me...

This was a reasonably common practice for Australian Record Bars back in the day & may account for the scarcity of many original Australian sleeves. My favorite is the sturdy cardboard sleeve used by the Batman Record Bar!

These are good quality repro's not like the photo-copy ones you see at the record fairs.

Like has been said though, expensive for what they are.

They also sell those clear plastic sleeves to keep your company bags clean.

Motown stuff in printed orange paper, quite common.

I really like the Zodiac sleeves from NZ. I like the HMV/Columbia ones with the BOAC adverts on the back too.

They sure are! If they've been stored Ok, they can seem to stand the test of time. Still a major pain. Got a few pink NZ Motown sleeves that encourage the buyer to fly Air-N.Z. Hilarious! They match the pink label too!

I agree, the zodiac one with the fortune teller on it is very cool. Those NZ Motown sleeves came in a variety of colors, the most popular seems to have been blue, which doesn't match the pink labels at all

these sleeves are everywhere in melbourne...think there was a store on swantson st at one point.
