February 26, 200916 yr Author You shouldn't have said anything Ady... they'll be merged now I think they deserve to be!
February 26, 200916 yr Has anyone other than Woody descended the stairs at the 100 Club face first ? I saw the mod guy who is always carrying a record box, miss the top step of the last little bit before entering the dancehall. Rather than protect his head etc he cradled the record box like it was a new born baby, and took the whole weight of his fall on his shoulders as he twisted mid air. I dont know the guys name, but sure most people know him. He wears glasses, is about 5'8"ish, possibly slightly balding, always immaculatley dressed and always has record box in tow. Possibly from the Manchester area?

February 26, 200916 yr Author I once threw a bloke up the stairs in an altercation with a gang of mainly mad women, he was surprisingly light; but I had been provoked.

February 26, 200916 yr I remember descending the back stairs with Keb & Butch after nipping to the car to listen to a track. Trouble was the bakcdoor had been shut on our return and I thought Keb was going to Judo chop the door down at one point.
February 26, 200916 yr I'm not sure if I can merge them without all the replies ending up mixed up and confusing...

February 26, 200916 yr Is this the first time some fool has nabbed the first 4 threads on all about the soul for a club or any topic? Ady, you really need to go for the 100 to make it right
February 26, 200916 yr OK then Feb 26th is International Soul Source 100 Club Threads Day. Do we get a badge? Ady, you really need to go for the 100 to make it right Don't... even.. think.. about.. it! Am I the only person on here who hasn't actually been to the 100 Club?
February 26, 200916 yr How many people have a favorite space at The 100? Favorite piece of dance floor space, place to sit toilet cubicle, that sort of thing?
February 26, 200916 yr How many people have a favorite space at The 100? Favorite piece of dance floor space, place to sit toilet cubicle, that sort of thing? i like to dance on D9,(thats just left of the stage as you look at it).
February 26, 200916 yr Has the falling down something to do with the pub round the corner? How many steps are there, and have any been replaced over time?
February 26, 200916 yr i like to dance on D9,(thats just left of the stage as you look at it). My space is level with yours then, but towards the door. Where the dance floor is smoother and the draft cooler. If that is full of plebs, or Trickster, I'll take the vinyl flooring, just on the other side of the metal strip on the floor, towards the bar.
February 26, 200916 yr Do we get a badge? Don't... even.. think.. about.. it! Am I the only person on here who hasn't actually been to the 100 Club? Yes Rachel Come down in May -it's my ****%%% birthday so Rich and i have decided to take a trip down to see if anything has changed in the last 3 or so years since either of us was last there....(I heard a rumour about R&B ..... )
February 26, 200916 yr I once threw a bloke up the stairs in an altercation with a gang of mainly mad women, he was surprisingly light; but I had been provoked. And was it not a group of women that were supposed to working at the place!! Did you not lift Ion bodily out once re the record thief incident ?? Have you been taking tips of your new DJ employee re blanket marketing with all the threads or are you just bored today! Edited February 26, 200916 yr by jocko
February 26, 200916 yr 100 club threads. I tend to wear a roomy comfy top and jeans. I dont wear boxers anymore as if its a particularly sweaty night, they can chaff. A nice supportive pair of jockeys is just the ticket. Some of the guys and gals in the corner of the stage at the ladies loo end certainly make an excellent effort though.
February 26, 200916 yr Author And was it not a group of women that were supposed to working at the place!! Did you not lift Ion bodily out once re the record thief incident ?? Have you been taking tips of your new DJ employee re blanket marketing with all the threads or are you just bored today! No they were passers by who decided to punch Winston, which was a bad move all round. I can't remember the Ion incident at all but I hope it happened. Putting off a tricky bit of work so I get that adrenalin rush when I realise I'm about to miss the deadline.
February 26, 200916 yr My last visit was the anniversary. Christina was over from italy, and she said "Its 4 years since I've been to the 100 club, and you are still sat in the same spot". I didnt tell her it was my first visit for 18 months ;-) But yes I do like to sit on the stage near to the smooth raised peice of wood about a yard square. If offers a nice spot to dance when the place is rammed, or if I'm trying to avaid Simsy sneaking back in after popping "outside" with Keb.
February 26, 200916 yr Author I like the office where I can spy on everyone on CCTV! The bar's been particularly interesting recently.
February 26, 200916 yr How many people have a favorite space at The 100? Behind the decks gotta be # 1! # 2 ... Mod corner (piano side)
February 26, 200916 yr I did a little amateur video thing of The 100 last year, on the video I asked Tony Smith what he liked most about The 100. He said it was "the smell". Anyone else got any unusual favorite things they like? Unlike most poeple, mine is dance floor. I know it like the back of my hand. Sometimes when a new hole appears I have to reach down and rub it with my finger to see if it is permanent, maybe I'm rubbing it better. I think I could tell exactly where I am in the club blind folded just from the feeling of the floor through my shoes. Edited February 26, 200916 yr by James Trouble

James had fantastic convo at Burnley nighter last Friday very enlightening indeed lol. Thing is Ady no one minds you highjacking the threads. Just as an afterthought my last 100 Club visit was 10th anniversay and I remember driving home with Paul Madden in the rain with the top down on his XR3. Crazy times. February 26, 200916 yr My least favourite thing is the toilets being the opposite end to the bar. So to get to either one you risk bodily injury trying to avoid various limbs being spun about on the dancefloor! As for trying to traverse the dancefloor area with drinks in your hand it's near on impossible. Second least favourite thing is not having enough money for the sales boxes.
February 26, 200916 yr Not been for a while but I am going to rectify that soon. The 100 Club for me was a taste of home. I think it was the first ever Allnighter that I had been to that you could actually get an alcoholic drink at, I must admit to finding this a little strange, the only time you could get a drink to Northernsoul was at a an Alldayer? I remember never having my bleedin membership card with me, it was yellow and ripped, still have it today. Kinda weird having a nighter in the middle of London, Oxford Street is well busy in the day time then when the night falls and the crazy people are left roaming the streets a queue of right dodgy characters forms out side a seedy jazz club. As one o'clock approaches the last of the jazz cats stumble out of their zip zap zippedy zap drinking hole stumbling towards taxis and Sunday morning hang overs, the odd one looking back in confusion at the bizarre gathering of Soulies waiting to be let in. No matter where you where in the queue, no matter how long you had waited, the place always seamed to be full and every seat and table taken. The ubiquitous Hawaiian shirt, slicked back hair and Japanese student, the visiting TV type and trendy bendy never diluted the real nitty gritty Northernsoul essence and this was its strength. I always thought the music was a little hit and miss during my early visits, there didn't seam to be cohesion or direction, maybe it was me? I think that because it carried the Northernsoul torch standing alone I kinda expected some thing different than I got? I suppose I wanted what I hate now and that is floor fillers, my my how taste buds can change.
