  1. I had exactly the same thing happen to me. It turned out it was sitting in a customs pound while they calculated how much to screw me for the privilige of letting me have the thing that I had already paid postage on. Ask the seller if he declared full value on the box. If he did, you can bet it will be with customs or even your post office. You will get a card saying that you need to pay the fee.

That's a great video with a great message.
  3. I wouldn't have thought it was popular enough to warrant being booted. It certainly isn't northern enough to get plays in those rooms. What was the price of this boot? Were they trying to pass it off as original with a price tag to match?
  4. Record shops have always been the home of the socially inept male, but never quite in the same league as those dungeons and dragons type of model shops where all manner of strangeness seems to go on. Anyway, I thought it was a flaying offence to read the Guardian in here.
  5. It would sound very nice next to Barbara Lynn 'Trying to love two'.
  6. Yes, there's some good tracks on there that aren't northern and as you say a fair few less obvious northern tracks. I'm amazed that it wasn't another repackaged 'northern family favourites'. However, I just don't get the relevance of a reasonably good young hoofer as a music compiler. Give me a Richard Searling any day (as long as he hasn't got his hands tied to a specific label). As you say though Mark, perhaps we should be less grumpy about this kind of thing and if Levanna is someone that the new (young) blood identify with and respect, then fair enough.
  7. Levanna soul? When did this become a thing?
  8. If I had to choose something it would be Susaye Greene's version of Free. Not for the production but just for her vocal performance which is breathtakingly fantastic.
  9. Do you mean styrene? There's no vinyl of this is there?

    Gorgeous sweet flip on this.
  11. Cracking tune Derek.
  12. Did the Suffers EP get a vinyl release Steve?
  13. I'm sure I remember many years ago, in the dim and distant past, when we all danced to all aspects of northern all played in one room......maybe it was a dream.
  14. Why would anyone try and force this tune into a northern night? Nice tune an' all that but northern?
  15. I used to have this on a matt black label boot in the 70's, a very low cut press if I remember correctly with a wide run in groove.
  16. Willie Darrington. What a tune!! I first heard Phil Wainright play this years ago.
  17. Anywhere if you are a crap DJ.
  18. But all you have to do is look around and you can get records like Epitome of sound, or Walter Jenkins etc. As has been said, copies are often on places like discogs at the very same time people are fighting over an overpriced auction copy. It's not about lack of supply versus massive demand, it's about being arsed to look.
  19. Great cheapie 45.
  20. B -dum - tish!!!!
  21. Flippin' wonderful. But Linda Jones on the other hand was a proper squawker.
  22. Are you sure about that Gene? I have had a burgundy vinyl Tempos since the 70's which I always thought was a boot.
  23. It plays great Rhys. I haven't played it for years but I know the audio quality is fine.
  24. Here's a few more Chris. I borrowed a camera from college but as is fairly obvious from the results, I didn't know what I was doing with it. These aren't of Brian so feel free to move them somewhere more appropriate. Oldies 5th anniversary Feb 6th 1981.
  25. I think they forgot to record any bass sound onto my old purple boot. Very tinny sounding.
