Mr M's Wigan
The main tracks I always remember when I went in Ms where:- Gimme Some Lovin'-Spencer Davis, Get Ready For Love-Paintbox, Opus 17- Four Seasons, Hey Hey Bunny-John Fred Playboy Band, Nathan Jones-Supremes. Help Me-Spellbinders. This was about 75, 76. I was mainly a Main room kinda guy. Shows that there was plenty of "blue eyed" stuff played as well as soulfull stuff. Paul

Mr M's Wigan
Bad thing about Mr Ms was that it broke up the Southport/Ormskirk corner, that was at the top of the stairs(!!!) above the gents bogs, by what was Mr Ms door. Paul

Cheers for the info folks. Knew I didn't dream it(or nightmare it). Not a great version. Paul

Alternative Version Of Wait 'till I Get To Know You(B Treetop)
I'm sure I've heard another version of the above mentioned track. Not E Rodney Jones, or the similarly titled track by the Admirations. Sure it's a group name, and the title is slightly different, but it is the same record as Bobby. Anyone put me out of my misery??? Paul

Sharonettes - Papa Ooh Mow Mow - Did It Come Out On Any Import?
I disagree that everyone was unaware of it's origins. Most people I knew where only to aware of the utter shite Soussan was responsible for. Unfortunately many people did not care, including everyones favourite DJ Richard Searling, who was telling me about the fantastic new version of Blowing My Mind To Pieces that had just arrived. Can't remember whether it was "bob relf" or paula rousell he was referring to. Probably both. I was in Russ's shop around the same time, when Soussan was in residence and waxing lyrical about his fantastic new instrumentals he had. He then spun his version of Thumb A Ride, and was a bit put out when I enquired "What The F*ck is This Sh*te". Paul

Big Ticket Forgotten B-Sides
I always loved this one, even covered it up as Lou Johnson Girl Of Mine(for a laugh when doing a soulnight in Plymouth in the late 70s) Paul

Value Please "the Night"
The first time I heard it at Wigan, I remember seeing it in the deletion box in a record shop in Ormskirk. I bought it for 35p and sold it the following Saturday at the Casino for £5, no problem. Good money then!!! Paul

'soul Time'
Just found this on Amazon, if you read the review someone has described it as Come on & Dance by Helena Ferguson. https://www.amazon.co.uk/18-Northern-Soul-Floor-Shakers/dp/B0000582TE/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1363243670&sr=1-1 Paul

'soul Time'
I picked up a CD years ago called 18 Northern Soul Floorshakers, which was a mixture of good(Holidays Makin Up Time, Darrell Banks Somebody Somewhere), and bad(Soulfox orch type shit). On it was a version of Soultime credited to Helena Ferguson. Don't know anything about it, but it does have slightly different lyrics. Can't find it posted anywhere. I'll try to put it up when I get home' Paul

Acetates, Emi Discs, Or Bootlegs?
Back in about 74/75, I went with Pete lawson a couple of times to a recording studio in Carnforth, where Pete used to get his EMIs done. Some of the top DJs at the time also used this place, and the owner used to record everything and give Pete a list. He used to sell the 4 track singles for £5. I think Keith Bradley, also from Ormskirk used the same place. Frank Elson always used to threaten to out them as bootleggers, in his column in B&S. Paul

Its A Cover Up?
What about the 2 Detroit Shakers "Help Me" boots in the 70s. 2 Different records. One was Outsiders Lonely Man, and the other was errr something else. I think it was Simon Soussan that did it. Paul

Aaarrgghhh! Wombat Im Gettin' On Life?
If I remember correctly, back in '74 Chris Bloor from St Helens had one of the only copies around & used to take it to Wigan & Blackpool to be played.(or did I dream It?). Chris used to write the Northern column for Hot Buttered Soul, & believe he is no longer with us (RIP) Paul

Anyone Seen One Of These Badges?
This ad is from new year 73/74 and shows the white Torch badge. I was looking for the ads in B&S that showed the full load of ISC badges for "Soul Lancashire", "Soul Yorkshire", "Soul Ashby De La Zouch" etc. Remember at the time being confused by the Yogi Bear ones. As an aside, I couldn't work out why my sister would not get me(at 14 years old) a Torch badge when she went. Eventually7 I got a Major Lance Torch badge, but unpicked the Torch bit so it was just a Major Lance badge. Paul

Wtf Chapter 5 Issue On Ebay
I know it's all about personal taste(or lack of it), and how many people with money want a particular record, but £900 odd for this & only! £389 for Frankie & the Classicals on Phillips on JMs auction. I'd have though F&TC was rarer. Paul
