  1. Was also watching this (along with just about everyone else I reckon). Great sound, great label, bit of mystique, what's not to like? Condition was not 100% and a bit pricey but someone will be happy!
  2. Sean, Can't make Jan but let us know the remaining dates asp Mate and I'll make the next one. Good luck Matey. Regard, Dave
  3. Regards, Dave
  4. I collect Sheet Music and bought a copy of Still Water by the Four Tops a few years ago. That also was advertised as Writing On Paper. Arrived safely and on inspection it revealed the writing was actually the four autographs of the guys under their individual faces on the picture! Result! Can't be many artifacts with all four of the Four Tops signatures on them. Wouldn't trade/sell it for a gold clock. Framed in my record room along with some other nice bits. Regards, Dave
  5. And enjoyed it immensely each time too eh! Ah, the days of all male fartin', scratchin', belching and record huntin'. AND chips for breakfast too if we wanted! Hope you and Little Missy are wel;l Mucker. Regards, Dave
  6. Has this sold yet? Regards, Dave
  7. Then maybe the way to look at it is that the book price is the one that is/was always wrong, not the prices they are selling at in a wider market. The Guides price 45s at what that author has attained, doesn't make it the definitive price though. Though you'd think 90% of sellers on here think it is. How many times do you see: Seen at...(Insert ridiculous price) Books at... (Insert ridiculous price) Priced to Sell... (Then insert ridiculous price) Few bargains to go...(No bargain anywhere) On sales lists. These phrases actually make me not look any further on the list. The rise in prices over the past 15 years is self imposed. Like sheep, lots of collectors blindly took the guide price as the common denominator AND THEN added a little when that particular 45 went out of vogue and they wanted to shift it. Having paid too much in the first place they then tried to recoup that investment PLUS a mark up. No wonder you see the phrase "Seen listed at...(Insert extremely ridiculous price!) There's no doubt in my mind that as the returnees start concentrating on retirement and grandchildren and their weekly Sat night sou nite DJ spots dry up, they'll be looking to shift their boxes of 200 in droves. They'll be looking to recover all their cash AND a bit more too. Ain't gonna happen. The first snowflakes have started falling and it won't be long before that 'record mountain' becomes an avalanche of vinyl. So if you're thinkin' of uing your 45s as a retirement fund, don't hang around, send your sales list to hitsville2648@earthlink.net before it's worthless! Regards, Dave
  8. Have seen these in 'guides' etc but never seen ANY of them 'in the flesh', so to speak, as the promos are single sided. Anyone ever seen either? Barbara Mason - Bobby Is My Baby - Arctic Martha And The Vandellas - One Way Out - Gordy Regards, Dave
  9. Yep, Cheers, saw Dave's on Youtube. Not heard this before. Nice, gonna get one. Regards, Dave

  16. Nah but you had some nice stuff though eh Dave. I remember borrowing 200UKP from my Mum to buy the Decca demos off you, must have been around '77/8. (Should have borrowed 500 and bought a few more eh? Happy Days! Regards, Dave
  17. It's a shame we aren't going to see a scan of it. I'm pretty sure I haven't seen one. Would have been nice to confirm. To be honest this thread is symptomatic of the way SS has developed over the years. What happened to the helpful, exciting, exploratory community it (Internet), was in the beginning? All seems to be Ebay this and JM that and what a great night was had at people's own 'dos' nowadays. No wonder some folks have stopped posting and moved on. Regards, Dave
  18. "Ronnie Boy - Rochelle & the Classmates on Betty" Never heard this? Have you a scan/soundfile Mate? Although the publisher was Ollie Mac the song was written by a B Williams (Who also wrote the flip to the Antionettes release, which could possibly mean that there's a link between the writer and the Antionettes group? As Karen was the first of Ollie's labels to be instituted after his children's names and Ronny Boy is the 10th release, I'd place the Antionettes at around early '64. (If anyone has any info on the dating of the earlier Karen releases I'd be grateful). Not much help admittedly but you never know, if someone has the info on B Williams it may help. Regards, Dave
  19. Weldon talking about the birth of "The Philly Sound".
  20. Crackin' couple of posts towards the end of this thread. He He! 1. Never been to a weekender but feels qualified to critique that the 'music comes second to the socialising". He He! Great comedy writes itself. 2. "Something has to give'. Eh? Why? Some of us are having a blast Chalky. Get with the programme befiore it all disappears Mate. Some folks won't be really happy in their 'scene despondency' until there are only 2 gigs a month, 500 miles apart (Providing it's run/DJ'd at by them and thier mates of course!) He he! Regards, Dave
  21. Yep, That's the only one I've ever seen too. Must be a story behind this somewhere? CP, Lots of Demos, then poof! Gone! regards, Dave
  22. That's twice Bunny Sigler's been out! Nice pics Dave, bring back some great memories. I'll have a dig around when I get home. Regards, Dave
  23. Yep, at least that's what I've thought. 'Bout 1978? Regards, Dave
  24. The Karyl Mann is a good double sider. I also have the demo and haven't seen a stocker yet. Anyone seen/own Ramsey Lewis - Wade In The Water - Chess? Regards, Dave
