  1. When I was at Wigan oldies one night ,someone brought a copy of Eddie Parker "I'm gone " for Richard to play ,and I distinctly remember him saying " I remember this from the Torch " .I was told I was wrong later , glad to see it was actually played at Hose Street .
  2. I don't know Tony ? If so I didn't realise ...

  6. Think some of the alternate mixes were on the " Just Keep On Dancing " CD .I remember Terry Callier "Look at me now " was way different
  7. Yes I was listening to that show regularly on a Saturday , I was about 14/15 at the time.Neither side gained a UK release at the time either .
  8. Very sad news , easily one of my favourite Artists / Writers of all time .First remember hearing him via " The school of life " ,which was about no 2 in the USA Soul charts when Luther Ingram's " If loving you was wrong " was No 1 ,both on KOKO records of course .Thank you Tommy for some beautiful Soul music ....

Black Music Advert July 1974 ....
  10. In terms of getting a record after searching a long time ,then Johnny McCall - I need you ( Alteen ) was probably the best .Most unexpected find was Dean Parrish - Determination ( Stateside demo ) plus his other two on Stateside demos the same day .....
  11. The David Ruffin version of " No Matter Where " is superb too ...
  12. The flip side " today all day " is in demand and hard to find as a stock copy .most copies found are demos with " Get into your life " on both sides .
  13. I saw them on the Jazzman stall at the recent Independant Record Labels show ,they do look good ...
  14. Great tribute Andy , a good read about Linda's life and career ,despite the sad circumstances .
  15. I would like : Brenda Holloway - After all you've done ,Tommy Good - I gotta get away , Lewis Sisters - Breakaway ,The Velvelettes - The night that love died , Chris Clark - Sweet loving , Marvelettes - Because I love him .would love a 70's crossover set too Odyssey - Battened Ships , Thelma Houston - Nothing left to give ,Bottom and Co - Gotta find a true love , etc etc .....
  16. Reading this excellent in depth article proves beyond doubt that the Carol Kaye claims are ridiculous and should be dismissed as the work of a fantasist .You can't argue with session logs ,and the fact that the Funk Brothers individual contributions are so individual on tracks , and very difficult to copy by other musicians .
  17. Could be the French one ? Came out over there ....
  18. Stunning performance
