  1. Really , B & S ,Black Music and Hot Buttered Soul were invaluable to us collectors pre Internet Pete .I religiously bought them every time .
  2. He says he doesn’t recall it Julian , but he did so many shows with Major Lance apparently. I went to see him at Cheltenham in about 74 ,but he didn’t turn up .Eventually caught him live at Hinckley early 80’s .Cheers Eddie
  3. Will do Pete
  4. Ok I’ll ask him Julian , there is hardly anything about Soul Music on his page , which is criminal and a shame I think .He must have so many stories to tell .Heard a great radio show a while back ,where he explained how he used to call up artists like Tyrone Davis for interviews , from a pay phone ,frantically putting in money ,and trying to make notes in the cold .
  5. I found 5 copies of “ Just wont move “ on our local market 10p each .All gone now though Im afraid .

  9. I’ve got a WD ,I’m not sure if it was booted ,or whether the copies that hit the scene in the mid 70’s were Originals ,as it probably wasn’t that old ?

  13. I remember playing The Sherrys at home in the 70's ,and my Mum saying that she knew the song from when she was young in the 1940's .
  14. How about The Trips - There's that mountain / Love can't be modernised on Soultown ? The copy I have even has the same pressing plant stamp as John and The Weirdest on Tie .Would this have been a legal re press via Bobby Sanders ? There is so much info on the label ,unlike most bootlegs of the time . I read somewhere that copies of The Sweets with the instrumental flip turned up in the UK in the same box as the copies with " Something about my baby " on .Think it was a Blue Max's shop that was mentioned .

  17. I thought he was very good on the ballads ,I was stood at the front of stage .He did have to read the lyrics to his Northern biggies which makes for a more stilted performance IMO .Still great to see him live though .
  18. A friend of mine had 800 copies of Robert Thomas ,and 200 before that ,so plenty of originals out there .
  19. Really sad news , I hadn't known Mick as long as many on here ,though I'd known his name via Soul Source .My heart goes out to his wife Ali, and his many friends on here .A lovely fella , always a pleasure to be in his company , we will all miss him so much .
  20. Looks like Richards writing ..
  21. Possibly Kirsty , but this Blackpool Mecca list is from much earlier .
  22. " Give me lots of lovin " would be Willie Kendrick ,as Freddie Butler wasn't discovered until much later .
