  6. Really enjoyed it. didnt like 3 or 4 but the rest I enjoyed very much. 2 or 3 Id not heard but overall nice to listen to: One I had not heard Im onto so thanks for that Ian and cheers Pete for putting it up! Picking 3 out for different reasons: Chocolate Syrup - Memories of fantastic youthful times at the Mecca. Connie Stevens - Its what I call " Northern soul" sorry but if your a fan of Joannie Sommers then how you can criticise this is beyond me! Second Nature - Ive got the other version but had never heard this one! Great version! Could probably critique all his selections but I picked out those three - other will pick out a different trio. Wish I could be at the hundred club but have my daughter that weekend & we will be watching the Pool against Sheff weds Anyhow once again Thanks Pete for putting it up!
  7. Peggy Im sorry but I have to disagree with you forcefully. Levine was very fortunate to come from a well off family that he travelled to the states to find records when most of us could only dream to afford to go there thats why he got so many not that they were posted to him although he did have his suppliers like most Djs do. Back in the 70s although there was thousands of records to find you had to be in a special group of people in order to get unlicensed access - even I was lucky for a short time working at global. The other thing is tastes change and the things butch plays now might not have been flavour of the day then- so infact Ian could maybe have heard some of Butches discoveries but passed them by as they didnt fit into the recipe for the time! I love Butches discoveries but I love Levines because when your young music influences you in an emotional way that is different to when you are older. If I heard one of Butchs discoveries ID think to myself - thats bloody great but the oldies that are now but were new back in the day make my hairs stand on end because of the emotional attachment to the scene at the time and the friends at the time and there fore the association with Levine is much deeper - so you could say its one of Nostalgia because I was there! That doesnt mean that Butch is less but Ian is held in esteem for the reasons I have given.
  8. Bobby Martin- I think it is and goes with the United artist label
  9. Well Im Peeved because I cant get there! I have my 8 year old that week/ weekend otherwise I really would have loved to see Ian & Butch on the same bill - Awesome IMO.

  11. Mal - Have you heard Ramon Bouche's version of - I Gotta be with you- Its on Uk Columbia ( I have a demo and its dated 1967) - Its better than Malcolm Hayes and Emma Rede (Jackie Lee). Not sure if Ive still got a Uk Decca Demo of Leave a little love - lulu - Looks nice on the demo. ATB Steve On thread - Some people just want to show off what they have rather than want to sell. I suppose somepeople put up records at top price expecting to be knocked down! -I dont have problem with that- Its the ones who put top price and dont budge that get to me! Worst of all is the bloody Braggers who get a record dirt cheap and then brag how much they sell it for 20 times what they paid for it EH Pete
