  1. Saw her sing this live in NJ a few years ago, sounded great
  2. You could always try Frank, owner of Arctic, directly - just had lunch with him here in NYC today and he said he does still have stock on some titles, he's at jamguy@gmail.com
  3. The recent Sharon McM on ebay ended at $587 but didn't sell as the reserve was higher Roburt, how was the Garnet / Senate show back in 67?? Their recordings together are so great can imagine it would have been pretty special
  4. I traded a Terri North last month, good little record that. Not as good as "Do the pig" by Rodd Keith of course (don't go buy it, joking clearly!)
  5. Hey Ady, some releases on iTunes include the artwork/etc as a "bonus track" for anyone who buys the whole cd/lp, always good as feel a bit left out missing on what's clearly some great background you've put together on all of these tracks
  6. Just downloaded off of the US version of iTunes - impressively it's listed in their Jazz section, less impressively they haven't figured out how to link to a scanned copy of the sleevenotes when you purchase that way, bummer
  7. Always laugh at the label - "If it's not on Gogate, it's not a hit" - possibly least accurate claim ever
  8. The next Dig Deeper will be Saturday March 23rd at Littlefield in Brooklyn, the legendary Renaldo Domino performing live plus a revue tribute to Marva Whitney, it's 2 years since Renaldo graced a stage for us and we can't wait to have him back, totally incomparable Chicago soul at it's best, here's a clip from last time
  9. In case you've never heard them live.....
  10. Oh snap, we're all apparently into prog rock, who knew https://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Wooden-Nickels-Nobody-But-You-Progressive-Rock-/360587705797?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item53f4b3bdc5
  11. Believe he only has a few of the Impel left, was told originally had <20, so if that's correct price not going to drop too much
  12. Really enjoyed that one even more than the first, thanks Ian
  13. That's pretty good in a guilty pleasure kinda way Ian, do they throw in any other oddball covers on the rest of the LP??
  14. Love this seller's description, truth in advertising award https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170974364707
  15. I just want to know what rhymes with orange
  16. This record has an awesome sweet with a beat flip too, under-rated
  17. Thanks for digging that up Roburt, always have a copy of this in the box and have often wondered who the singer was, great to finally get to learn a little more
  18. Good record, have an alternate more garage-y blue-eyed version too, the Fyrebirds See one for sale on ebay right now too https://www.ebay.com/itm/FYREBIRDS-Cant-Get-No-Ride-MICHIGAN-GROUP-GARAGE-45-RPM-7-VINYL-HEAR-NM-/261104026158
  19. Same song as Sugar and Spice and have another 45 that uses the same backing track too. Last copy saw went cheap as chips, $16.50 https://collectorsfrenzy.com/details/160863189610/Northern_Soul_45_BB_CARTER_Cool_It_Baby_KRIS_HEAR
  20. Not putting down the LRH, it's ace, but LJ is even better, harder, belting Northern from start to finish Thread here:
  21. Still think one of the weirder coincidences in soul collecting is that as well as the mis-press of the Ten High label "Get a hold of yourself" there's also the one-off alternate version by Lee Jennings on Dottys, what are the chances of the same, obscure song being mis-pressed twice!? Have owned both, still have the Lee Jennings, far and away the better one. If you want to spot the ten High mispress just look for the deadwax markings, if it's 103A and B plus a 95 then you're smiling
  22. Have a few records with this in the titles, eg The P.W. - Little Stanley on Stran, Arcades - The Soul P.W. on Triad, etc, but haven't figured out what it stands for, anyone?
  23. I always like the fact that the label was owned by Bill Haley and "Cuppy" was his wife's name (or nickname, maybe she was a bit of a heavy drinker!)
  24. Glad you liked it, this was at our New Years Eve Dig Deeper show last year, she was totally epic from start to finish, turns out she was born here in Brooklyn so we had the Borough President write a formal Declaration acclaiming her which we presented to her on stage that night, we <3 Sugar Pie
  25. Pomonkey replied to a post in a topic in Record Wants
Can this site invent a way to group all the posts looking for the exact same record onto one wants thread, much better than seeing multiple identical requests each trying to top the previous ones with would-be higher offers? This ones all over recently since that last copy turned up and reminded people how good it is, think is at least the 3rd separate identical thread posted on this forum alone in barely 2 weeks (and I've personally had a few friends write directly asking if have a copy too so tip of the iceberg), would be really helpful for potential sellers to gauge the interest. Would vote for Lonnie Lester - So this is love /Meanest man in town as possibly qualifying for record of most separate wants threads all saying the same thing, utterly lost count of how many different times now. On the same subject, must surely be a thread somewhere about Wants etiquette, e.g. if you see someone offering $xx for a record is it legit to reply on their thread that you'd pay more? If someone has already posted a Want, how long before it's cool to post your own separate thread saying the same thing? (mini dilemma especially when you know/like the previous posters as is the case with me on this one!) Maybe consolidating them all as suggest above would help a little, but guess really with so many buyers with similar taste chasing the same records that's exactly the reason why they invented auctions in the first place! (and would bet a guaranteed pound to a penny the next one of these auctioned will top any previous price)
