  2. Apologies, have found the answer in previous thread, Thanks
  3. Can anyone kindly give me any background information, on said U.S Hurdy-Gurdy Label, and where it based its recordings please? The above I'm assuming is from 1965, and as a Robert Bateman/Luther Ingram collaboration, would probably be a Detroit recording?? Any feedback most gratefully received. Kind Regards Mike Wilks
  4. I must say, and sadly as boring as it sounds, I bought a boxed set from Amazon recently, hoping that my previous "misgivings" regard the set would be addressed, unfortunately, whilst the set was complete, once again the Four Tops "side" jumped (as did the first set bought).! WTF..
  5. Both vocally superb, but Darrell Banks gets my plaudits on this one
  6. If anyone has a copy of the Monitors US album Greetings we're the Monitors in EX condition, PLEASE PM ME ONLY. Thanks wilxy NOW SORTED!
  7. Coincidentally, I still have the original audio tape from said interview, recorded at Lea Manor Allnighter In November 1999, but have never been able to bring myself to listen to it following the Late Paul Fishers passing the week after the actual interview. I can concur however that the interview with "Butch" was superbly informative, and enjoyable, and he thoroughly deserves his plaudits, both for his ability as a DJ, and undoubted ear for the music. Respect Mike Wilks
  8. I must add, after the total balls up with regard this "boxed set".....I, having both communicated with Amazon and Universal am disgusted with the absolute shambolic"rhetoric" issued by both parties.....Paid for Boxedset.....Received nothing but Bullshit......Very F-cking Pissed Off....End Of....
  9. Great times remembered fondly of the Bristol Hotel.....I had a lot of hair and a lesser waistline in those days

Go for it Richard.....IMHO a superb portfolio, that from experience, and purely from a collecting perspective, has always been a favourite of mine above others!

Whilst I'm pleased to say, I have a copy of the 45 in this format, I only wish that the Universal Boxset I received at Xmas, would have contained a (UK) copy as a supposed inclusion......and that's not just from an anoraks perspective neither.........
  12. Sad to say, having opened my set today....No Marvin/Spinners ......2 Mcnairs/Ruffins ....

Purchased a copy when released, and whilst several of the tracks were, as Roburt mentions, a tad dated, and many were "new on the ear"!!! I thoroughly enjoyed the compilation overall somewhat
  14. Must agree, both the Melvin Davis tracks are very good indeed.
  15. R.I.P Sir......
  16. Hi Paul, Is the Roddie Joy still available please? If so please reserve, and I'll sort paypal tomorrow.. Thanks Mike Wilks
  17. Keep 'em coming Mr. Croasdell

    Very Sad news, R.I.P Sir......
  19. Whilst I probably won't get the chance to catch it "live" so to speak, would be grateful for a recorded take on the show, if possible please cheers wilxy
  20. James Jamerson....Respect
  21. Could anyone enlighten me as to the recording studio whereabouts of the Stax/Volt 45's, in particular the Don Davis (Groovesville) productions? Whilst I appreciate he bought United Sound System studios in 1973, I'm assuming that the likes of Roz Ryan, and United Image for example were in fact produced in Detroit, however whilst I believe the Dramatics "Your love was strange"was also probably a Detroit production, where does his involvement with both latterly (later Dramatics output) and Johnnie Taylor lie (production wise)? If anyone can either verify or elaborate, I'd greatly appreciate any feedback.. Thanks in advance..... wilxy
  22. Has Anyone got an original US "mintish" Junior Walker Shotgun LP ,(Soul 701), or either of his subsequent LP releases-Soul sessions (Soul 702), or Road Runner (Soul 703).. in similar mintish condition.......(U.S RELEASES ONLY thanx). PM's Only Please..... Cheers wilxy
