  9. Mal on first track it's a corker๐Ÿ‘ Playlist please.
  10. Another loss in the soul family. Mr Ronn Matlock, one album that spurned the classic 2 step classic "Forget about you" and You got the best of me, like the Millie Scott cut . as well.RIP Ronn your music will not be forgotten.
  11. such sad news. A softly spoken soul, with a beautiful unique voice. He reminds me of the other great talent Terry Callier in musical style. A great songwriter and a lovely voice. Harlem was always a fave, b side to Ain't no Sunshine which is a beautifully crafted piece of music produced by Booker T Jones. RIP Bill Withers a true troubadour.
  12. R.I.P. Mr John Anderson.I did not know you personally, but as these comments show you were the driving source of finding & supporting black music and the DJ's of the UK soul scene. So many heartwarming comments R.I.P.
  13. A really nice article. So many memories, I was there at all those early venues pre 100 club, and then the first 10 or so years.all those years ago. Met so many people danced so much, heard so many records and sought out so many. A huge thank you to Sir Adey you are a true gent, and I agree the 100 club allnighters will have a place in the hall of fame as a soul club and for the records broken and played by some fantastic DJ's. Thanks to Eddie Hubbard I did feel like it was a Soul music world cup final, when Adey allowed me a DJ spot. Happy Birthday 6ts 100 club allnighters.
  14. Top bloke. I first met Ian at various venues pre 100 club. I also went a couple of times to Yate but never chatted, but I also met him many times at various Record Tape & Exchange shops and we exchanged record talk he was helpful & friendly.. I don't know what he bought, but 45's- & 12"- both imports & the soul funk UK promos were in abundance. A funny story one night at 100 club allnighter Adey let a load of non DJ's have a spot, me included, as I went up to Ian to say hello he said " there's a right bunch DJing tonight. "I know" I replied "I've a spot." He was right but I enjoyed myself and even early doors a few danced. I've also bought quite a few sales of him in recent years always excellent condition and packaged. A true gent.
  15. Thanks a great insight in another episode in the amazing world of soul music that we love so much. Good luck with the gig & book.
  16. Really sad to hear this. Friday lunchtime before a shift at the Mayfair hotel this was where we cut our teeth to clubbing, around1976 /7 record collecting buying Imports some real classic tunes were played out all overseen by a legendary club DJ. R I P George Power.
  17. many thanks. Just listened on train . Nice mix . Really like Harvey Scales, John Bowie, Side effect. And who are Locomotive? Cheers Carl.
  18. A rich period of growth in life and soul. Many nights mentioned already, how could I forget the pre 100 club scene. Friday nights sixties rhythm & soul at West Hampstead a pub with a history of our music and great people like Adey, Randy, Tony Rounce, at the helm supported by numerous soul lovers so many drunken nights feet aching from dancing all evening. Ah memories. Simon Dunmore behind a couple of do's the already mentioned Jools winebar Edgware Rd great mix of deep and new release soul, but this was like many do's not supported too well. I remember seeing Sam Dee's at Dingwalls what a great night think Lou Kirton played there also. Dr BOB Jones was key influencing DJ. Dingwalls also hosted Talking Loud jazz sessions, brilliant dancers a good mix of jazz with a touch of soul went to nearly every one. Biggest regret never went to Village soul.
  19. Thanks just ordered a copy.
  20. such sad news was part of one of soul music's favourite groups. So many brilliant tracks. Classic feel good soul music . Recently purchased a lovely U.S promo copy of their Jones Girls album will give it a spin up in the loft later .For those that like the more modern sounds check out The Brenda Jones Girl experience What your love has done. Honeycomb music from 2014. RIP. Brenda Jones. Sincere condolences to her family & friends.
  21. RIP Mr Jarreau. What a beautiful voice , my favourite his vocals on Freddie Hubbard' s Little Sunflower sweet soul music adorned by soul and jazz lovers alike.
  22. Sorry to hear this. I travelled up from Sussex, it was a memorable event. The venue nice dancefloor, DJ's and Mr Richard Caiton, a true performance. We thought the attendance was disappointing, specially for you and all the hard work done.Too many nites? I don't know quality usually stands out. The DJ lineup I have not seen Arthur or Mike DJ and Sam since way back when, but following playlists perhaps expected selections were chosen. However brilliant to hear The Differences never heard played out one of my favourite tunes ever . Thanks again for a great night. Keep the faith. K.
  23. What about the 45 of the Eddie Holman on the Austrian Soul Shack label. Do they have rights to release, or not.
