Betty Wright Live At Wigan?
I was there too and I do remember Betty sang a lot of slower numbers that did'nt really go down too well. There were a few comments along these lines made in Blues and Soul. But the night itself was brilliant.

Jonathan Woodcliffe & Lewie
I remember Lewi very well. I used to send him gear back in the day and he got nicked and grassed me up. I can still remember his old address. But he was a good lad though! I believe he sold up around 78/79 but he kept one record, Eddie Parker "I'm Gone". Boy could he haggle I'm sure his dad must have been an Asian market trader!! I remember at Yate spending about four hours behind the decks trying to get Cheryl Anne off him. Dave

Ojays "to Prove I Love You" Tsop
Just found a copy on the shelves. Vinyl is generally ex+ but has a couple of light scuffs from where it looks like it has been out of a sleeve. Plays with a couple of pops and crackles but overall a very nice copy. Certainly a lot cheaper then I've seen it for lately. £15= p+p. Paypal as gift or cash/cheque please. PM or email dgreet211@btinternet.com. Cheers Dave

Windsor Ricky-Tick
/That was a good night out. Records you've heard so many times before always sound better in a club environment. Met Martin Fuggles as well. Really nice bloke, Very well attended to for a Thursday night. Lot of old mods from all over the place.

Yate Memories
Strange thing happened to me the other Sunday. On our way back from a weekend in Bristol, at Junction 18 of the M4 heading for London my car swerved up the slip road and I found myself in Yate shopping centre, Should this happen to any other old Yate goers the all nighter venue is now Riley's snooker hall. You can still climb the concrete steps to the old entrance. Aah, wonderful days!

Ns In Film
My mate Budgie told me of a porno film where some bird is in the back of a taxi driving through London's Hyde Park. Playing in the background was Third Time Arounds' "Everythings Gonna be Allright".

Records That Made You Gobsmacked
Hearing Richard Searling play Al Williams at a Burnley Cats Whiskers All dayer circa 78/79. Covered as the Masqueraders as I remember. Fantastic!!

Your One Golden 'five Minutes'
Mine is'nt quite as touching as some of the above but it is still so special to me. Meeting the Dellarks on the Soul Trip to New York afew years ago. Three of the loveliest guys you could wish to meet. I swear, if Rooney and Beckham had been stood in that room, that night, noone would have noticed. For that couple of hours, these unassuming singers were the centre of the universe. I have a massive photo on my record room wall to treasure that memory.

Your First Big Vinyl Buy What Started Your Obsession
Looking at an earlier scan of an emidisc, does anybody remember a guy from Southport (I'm sure) called Andy Keggin? When we used to travel up from Southampton to Blackpool/Wigan some of us would always go home with some of his merchandise!! He was always in the record bar at the Casino with a box load of emi's of the latest top sounds. The very neat writing on the earlier scan reminded me of him.

Uptights on Columbia on eBay
I've just seen an Uptights "Shy Guy" Columbia demo on ebay for $493 with six hours left. So that's well over three hundred pounds for what I always thought was a hundred pound record. albeit nm condition and a brilliant record as well. Has this become a big tune for anyone or have I been propelled ten years into the future?

How Come They Never Made It Big?
Brilliant thread Ian, this one will roll for weeks methinks. My offering would be Darrow Fletcher's brilliant "Changing by the minute" on Uni. A record I love to drop in on a good night and when I'm feeling a bit self indulgent. Epitomises everything great about a Mecca record. Easy to dance to and eleven out of ten on the feelgoodometer. Thanks to my old pal Dave Ferguson for turning me on to this many moons ago. It's on Refosoul if you fancy a couple of minutes of heaven!

Sad News Dave McCadden RIP
Yes, a dead funny bloke, not surprised at all that stand up was his vocation. Did a few stupid things years ago like we all did but loved the scene. You were never bored in hos company thats a fact. God bless you Dave.

Top Dancers Early Casino Days & Other Venues
I've just seen Kev Joss's name mentioned in an earlier post. And Jinxy for that matter. I last saw them at Guy Hennigan's 50th. Would someone be good enough to say hello from dave Greet in Reading. And if either of them use this bloody brilliant site ask them to pm me or something. Spent many a happy hour in the record bar at Wigan in their company. Many Thanks.
