I'd like to thank Baz Tsop Manchester for asking me to make a rare foray behind the decks to play some "modern" soul, all the years I've been Djing you can count on one hand the number of times I've done this. I have to say though I really enjoyed myself and the music from all the Djs, off the scale.
Here is my selection, not necessarily in order and not sure if a couple missing. Thanks for all the lovely comments and for dancing, made my night.

Woods Empire - Universal Love - Tabu
Anglo Saxon Brown - Gonna Make You Mine - Atlantic
Lamont Dozier - Something To Fall Back On - Expansion (ABC Years & Lost Sessions)
Nudge & The Chocolate Jam Co. - Come Into My Life Again - Epic
Arnold McCuller - Freeway To Monterey - Avi
Lenny Williams - Half Past Love - ABC
Anthony White - Stop And Think It Over - PIR
Imperial Wonders - Lord Wheat’s Happening To The World? - Cordial
Ellis Hall Group - Those Passing Words - Super Disco Edits
Dexter Wansel - The Sweetest Pain - PIR
Down To Earth - Everyday - Izipho Soul
Leon Ware - Inside Your Love - Fabulous
Ronnie Dyson - Heart To Heart - Cotillion
Greg Perry - I’ll Always Be In Love With Love - RCA
Wali Ali - (Oh I) Need Your Love - Jobette

I had some sort of plan of what I was going to play but that sort of went out of the window and not enough time either 😁

Second visit to this much better, more tasteful and homely venue. Dimension wise, its perfect!, adequate seating, reasonably large floor, and a quality one if just in need of a polish?, low slung ceiling making for great accoustics....Baz Maleedy's set up is 1st class anyway.

Exceedingly good to see so many 'usual suspects' from both Lowton and indeed, Prestwich eras, lots of smiley faces, embraces, handshakes and invigorated dancing to a plethora of tunes you just wouldn't expect to hear at your bog standard soul night, not astonishingly rare but sounds that have been around long enough to remain fresh and untainted by bootlegging or legit releasing....played by discerning djs with an ear for quality music.

Top night!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐😉👍 well done all the Culcheth team, plus guests and folks who turned up from far and wide...renewed acquaintances achieved and a satisfactory evening realized.....result!!

Big UP for the forthcoming ' Grumpy ' here....but deffo NO long faces!😁

Culcheth delivers!

We arrived just before 8pm and secured a valuable parking slot before the inrush - I wish I had a time lapse camera set up to show just how quickly the place filled up......blink and you missed it!!!

As already muted here it was a fantastic night with both room bouncing (apologies to the guys in the modern room, I didn't get much time to spend in there - too busy listening to the amazing selections in the main room to avoid repeat plays).

Musically a great mix of rare soul with - appropriately I'd say, an emphasis from the DJs on the sounds they played or recalled from the halcyon days at Lowton with a good smattering of current biggies and dancefloor favorites....

To sum it up - great to see Culcheth banging as it deserves to be - if you haven't manage to get there yet you're missing a quality night in the soul calendar, great music, great venue and a wonderful crowd

Would just like to thank everyone who came to CULCHETH to celebrate the LOWTON CIVIC ANNIVERSARY. Both rooms busy from the off, with folks travelling from Yorkshire, North Wales, Stoke, Skipton and everywhere in-between.

Gotta say thanks to all the DJ’s Kev, Robbo, Simon, Les and special guest Andy Dyson, great music, Lowton memories, a few classics and plenty of rare 60’s to keep a top crowd happy. The modern room was bouncing with the latest new vinyl releases being showcased by Pete and Steve, monster rarities flowing to a packed dancefloor from Charlie, a great selection of 80’s club grooves and North West club favourites from Nick and Bill, not forgetting our special modern room guest, Karl ‘Chalky’ White, dropping some top tracks, to keep the room happy.

Hope everyone enjoyed the night, it’s what its all about…See you in March

Well the Lowton Anniversary at Culcheth was a definite winner, we arrived late to the party, well ten minutes after the doors opened, got the last spot on the car park WOW!! The main room was already rammed, every table taken, we ended up in the recess area, the darkness kind of added to the atmosphere!!

We spent the night flitting between the main and modern room, caught most of Chalky's set, take a bow sir, you smashed it. Pick of the night in the main room was for me Kev Murphy a truly great set of rare soul big hitters. Nice to catch up with Chris and Marcelle after our NYE shenanigans  at Piercebridge, not forgetting Jumping Joan Oi Oi !!! and Phil T,look forward to the Grumpy Take over Easter special. If you haven't yet been to the new venue at the village hall, you're missing at trick, well done all!!
