Don't know if this subject has been covered before.

Never really been a particularly big fan of duets, but I was just listening to Jimmy Holiday & Clydie King "Ready, Willing & Able" and realised what a truly great record it really is.

Always liked it - but right now I'm lovin' it!

The vocal interplay and those little adlibs here and there are absolutely superb.

Great Sax break too!

Marvin & Tammi get their fair share of hammer, but what other duets do you rate, that deserve a spin or a revival?

This is one of the few records likely to be mentioned on this thread that I have actually owned. I think I lost custody of it during one of my divorces.

My favourite duet changes from time to time. But I always end up coming back to the late, great, Jackie Lee with Dolores Hall. 'Whether it's right or wrong'. Beautiful.

It's like... fuckinhell! they took cocaine and smoked the green? they just said mother fucker . And when Jackie reverbarates, lavern you ho! ho ho ho hoooooooooooohoooohooo. .

Now then, I've remained decidedly tight-lipped after you slated me for my 'Bobby Bland' aside (and more or less accused me of being a narrow minded -northern- soulee, to which I heartily agree. I love northern, so sue me...) but I must say I agree with you on this one. However, let me go one better: Mike Sarne and Wendy Richard - Outside. And from the sublime to the friggin bloody obvious: Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg... can you guess... oh and Johnny and June Carter Cash - Jackson... now Mr Rounce, don't you DARE go saying that Johnny Cash isn't soulful... There is such a vibe going on between these two talented individuals.
