Guest nubes
Glad you had a great time, straight talking lady, I'll be joining you in October, as my last visit was in 2000, so I need to give it another twirl :o) x Alison...it was something else...and you know if i didnt enjoy..then i apply the Thumper aprroach ..of not saying anyting nice ..till i am asked...but ...just from when Derek and myself pulled up...we had to look twice...because we couldnt believe the queue to get in...and friends of ours who got there...at 8...but went onto the warm up session at the pub...just across the carpark..told us that folk ahd already started queuingup..in anticipation...for what has turned out to be a brilliant all niter..i dont care...what folk think...i luv the atmosphere...the whole ambiance of the Kings Hall...even though i didnt get to go into the rare room..got told that it was even more stuffed than the main room.....which resembled a conference for sardines!!!!!!......see yer in October babes......xxxxx Link to comment

Mustang
does what it says on the tin.superb. THANKS TO ALL FOR SUCH A SUPERB,WELL ORGINIZED LONG RUNNING TOP EVENT...reminder of how it was for the 30th aniversary many moons ago..except for the lack of manners /respect for dancers and others around them of quite a few rude folk standing infront of dancing soulies, either taking the piss or just taking up valued dancing space for true soulies. MAYBE A BARRIER STOPPING FOLK WALKING FROM THE BAR,DOWN THE SIDES OF THE DANCEFLOOR WITH DRINKS SPILLING EVERYWHERE, COULD BE AN IDEA.AS THERE IARE CORRIDORS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE MAIN ROOM. Definelty support your comments about inconsiderate people, was dancing about a third of the way back from the stage in the CENTER of the floor and noticed an older bloke with a large drink in his hand dancing slowly,he was spilling the contents on the floor and generally making a mess.I was having none of it and duly sent him packing to the edge of the dance floor to finish it ,he then returned to the dance floor hands free and continued dancing, just makes me very angry folks and we don't have to put up with it,if you don't like it tell them and make them understand,it is our scene,if they don't like it stay away, personally i don't want them there anyway because they are a ####### nuisence and sooner or later something will happen!!! Also, got changed in the toilets at 7am and observed damage to one of the two toilets, the seat and lid had been ripped of it's anchor and both were a bit of a mess generally, one of the bouncers was doing his rounds and we both agreed it was out of order and no need for it,i don't like to see this type of damage at all,it spoils it for the rest, plus the toilet is "out-of-service",again angry ,no need. I agree 1000000000000% that the "no drinks on the floor" policy should be fiercely enforced, seeing how the bouncers don't really have any work to do maybe they could do that, as for getting pissed I reckon about 25% of the people there had a skinful. Guest Mark Cartwright
Echo the other comments!! Cracking night / great sets (esp Sean) / hot / rammed.... Still the odd cock with drinks on the dance floor and not always the kids / tourists. One p***head at the back of the room was old enough to know better!!! Security really should get on to this as if there is ever going to be a flash point, this would be it. But knobs aside, a cracking night!!! Link to comment
Spacehopper
great nite as always in both rooms...left about 530 the floor still heaving..didnt notice the drunks to be honest but did notice the youngsters and this is the kinda night that will get them into it...never went to wigan so not looking at it from a nostalgia point of view its just a great atmosphere, venue, crowd and most of all tunes!!....well done all involved...will be back dean Link to comment

NUFCSOUL
Kings Hall is just what it says on the tin so everyone knows it's trying to evoke memories from the past and yet also be the top current nighter in terms of size of crowd, hall and dancefloor. A great night in both rooms and Butch's set in the small room was awesome. Main hall rammed and as already commented - a new breed of young'uns in evidence and all kitted in retro style as well. Being very much aware of the drive back to Newcastle (that's the UPON TYNE one) after hoping to grab a few hours kip in the hotel, I only had 3 pints all night but did notice the hadbag on the floor crowd and the arsehole drunks. A few soulies had also had a bevvy or two by the way but maybe they know the rules of the game so their behaviour is less obvious than the others. A great night in each room and a couple of records bought as well so I went away happy. Love the whole experience of Kings Hall and thanks to Lindsey and David from Burton for sorting the hotel room for us whilst also getting in at doors open so we could get a good spot !! Jem Britttin
First time for me and my mate at Kings Hall after threatening to go for some time ......one word....IMPRESSIVE! .....My advice, take it for what it is mainly an oldies allnighter and get along , you cant help but be blown away 1500 people from 14 to 64 dancing the night away.Took a look from the balcony a few times the view was truly awesome. The venue is a work of art, cant think of a better one ...maybe wigan?, sound system top notch, floor fantastic. and this coming from someone who would rate their tastes as ....crossover , rare , oldies in that order..... will defo be back Link to comment

Guest CLASSICLAMBRETTA
As a dj you can only be as good as the crowd lets you. Saturday night was a throw back to the old days. Top Top sounds forTop Top dancers. A total pleasure to play too. Dont even get me started on the "Tiffanys" saturday night type crowd.................YOU HAVE ALL HEARD ME TIME AND TIME AGAIN ASK THEM TO GET OFF THE FLOOR WITH THEIR DRINKS, THE DOOR STAFF NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS OTHERWISE SOMEONE WILL TAKE IT INTO THEIR OWN HANDS AND THERE COULD BE A NASTY INCIDENT. I looked out onto the floor during my spot and could not believe how many people were dancing, it looked like the Casino all over again, Thank you each and everyone "you made an old man very happy. chris king Link to comment

Dysonsoul
To be honest the whole package saturday nite was fantastic,,was a little late getting there but the upfront room played records any progressive niter would have been over the moon with ! I dare say a lot of the tunes would have been new to a fair few of the dancers but they danced and danced.. oh and thanks to the lady who brought up those chocolates to the decks .The main room was incomparable for atmosphere and good time music..it's probably as good as it can ever get in this day and age for the northern classics side of the scene. The only thing to top it (for me) would be new discoveries in a similar size venue with a similar sized crowd .. but that ain't gonna happen in a hurry ! Yes re the drinks on the dance floor does need nipping in the bud, problem is these days most of the guys who are badged up spend all night pretending to look like they know what they're doing ,when in reality they don't have basic people skills let alone the ability to motor a bit if the situation arises.. let's hope they never have to really earn there wages well certainly not when a event of this quality is on. 1 Link to comment
