Tomagnus
Nice writeup! Even if it's not strictly soul scene it maybe also worth mentioning that there's been a couple of mod and scooter events and garage/psyche-oriented dos over the years in Gothenburg. I don't have any exact dates for those. The Soulastatic summer nighter in August is usually one of the highlights of the year. People travelling from the rest of the country, great venue and DJs, meeting up again after the summer, nice time of year too... looking forward to it already! Another slightly related thing, Rodge and Fredrik from Soulful Lounge are now running a record store in the west side of GBG. Have had a lot of good times and met both wonderful and weird people (sometimes both!) over the years... 1 Link to comment Social source share

Christian Punky
Jumpinjoan, yes its Joey Dunlop in the pink shirt, Jim g, thats a bit pricey me thinks with SAS, easy Jet and Ryan Air to Gothenburg is about 30/40 ukp total if booked in advance. Soulof
Jumpinjoan, yes its Joey Dunlop in the pink shirt, Jim g, thats a bit pricey me thinks with SAS, easy Jet and Ryan Air to Gothenburg is about 30/40 ukp total if booked in advance. Think paid around 110-120 or so from Belfast this Januray with Easyjet via Gatwick . so 4 journeys for that. that is January though when not many travelling. Think 60-70 from England incl taxes if book in advance is a possible price. Easyjet much much nicer than Ryan and good legroom etc . Nice writeup btw Punky Cool with new record shop in Majorna as well that acc to reports seems to do well. Gothenburg is without a doubt the Northern Soul capital of Sweden. . Just need to add Hermansson and Ludwig had a northern soul club ( tiny bit mod) before Real Side called Ace Club at haket . Can't remember for how long but def 6 months or more. all uptempo uptempo then, did my dj debut here, just bought a few reissues from Pete Smith and loaned the rest from Hermansson was a bit easier then to get a spot Few more guests On The Real Side had was Rob Messer, Christian B and Tommy Oslo, Sebban o Dutten Spinnin cat, Mick H, Kitch, Alex Jones, Irish Greg, Eddie Engel, P Havekin, T Jackson , Marc Forrest more names might pop up later. Think yourself, Keith Money and George Wallace as well if remembver right Punky ? Also Punky and I did a grt weekender at Rio Rio with Steve Cato over . what did we call that club just escaped memory ? Superb night that was. Can def recomend the August event will be warm and nice as well. Edited March 20, 2011 by Soulof Link to comment Social source share
