I`m sure this thread has been done but I canny find it and it had me in kinks of laughter last time and would love to hear a few more of those inspired words of wisdom that our record spinners say.The last time this was up for topic one sourcer listed 5 or 6 things that have been said and what they actually mean.One was ---" And as requested " ( with or without fake name ). Real meaning ----I`ve been dying to play this for ages and even if it doesn`t go down well don`t really matter cause I`m such a kind hearted soul I`ve played it for you.So it`s your fault nobody likes it------Absolutely had me in stitches,cause I`ve said that on the odd occasion.So come on soulies I`d love to hear whether it`s your own wisdom or somebodys elses,remember it`s not a witch hunt just a bit of a laugh.

The worst thing I hear DJ's say is . . . "Thanks to (*name*), you've got me for the next hour". Always well thought out and original!! Must admit I've used the 'request' thing when I've played overplayed tunes to try and revive a thinning out floor Not that it happens too often you understand!!

Spot on, he was sooooooo funny. I remember him at an all-dayer in Yorkshire saying over the mike. I can't believe they fill me full of alcohol and pay me to do what I love doing....playing my f...king records....well missed.

Year's ago at the Carwash (I think) Sunday evening, after their disco bash our northern night started. A goodly number of disco bods had hung back and were either kind of taking the pish, or were primed to take the p. Keb was dj'ing at the time and in his own inimitable manner proclaimed "If you don't like soul music ... fcuk off"!

Funniest example I had in mind was Sam when he "discovered" OC Smith 'I'm Glad I Fell In Love With You' at Yahhmuff back in 1999 I think it was!! There was four of us in a group listening to Sammy's usual entertaining enthusiastic 100mph 'You'll love this, this is great, this is fantastic, you must dance to this, first play anywhere' preamble and when he played the track we just looked at each other and burst out laughing because I think everyone in the hotel that weekend knew it!! He did actually say that, but in fairness he probably meant his own personal first play of the track but things are never quite as funny if you don't twist the truth round a little bit!!

Dave Thorley at the second to last RSG came on after Carl F and said.... "If you have any request , then keep 'em to yourselves".............

My Old Fella used to knock about with him in the days of the Tracky and then onto Cleethorpes.

He told me that before he put each record on the deck, he'd grab it by the middle and outer edge and give it a quick buff on his gut. It's a trick I've perfected myself in my more rotund years

Best thing he told me was after the Tracky had finished, everyone used to pile into my Dad's wagon in the Car Park and drive over to Cleggy. (He used to sell Fruit & Veg on the Markets at Thirsk, Whitby etc and had a big Green Ford D series curtainsider)

Bub always sat up front with Pops, and he said he used to 'Morph' into the shape of the cab and fill all the gap to the windscreen with his head bobbing about on top!

My Uncle Mick once got into the cab between them on the way back from Cleggy, and started to fall asleep. Bub shouted "Ere, Lad, get the heead on ere (patting gut), best pilla tha'll eva have"

he said hurry up i want to show you how its done he put Cashing In Voices of east Harlem on the spare deck turned around I flipped it over and switched the speed to 33, when my last 45 had finished this certain dj got on the mike and said i,m ----- ------- from Blackpool and i,m here to make you dance he pressed the button to start the deck and the b side came on after the shock he turned it over said sorry get dancin

then cashin in started on 33 rpm the look on his face it was pure shock a few in the club started hecklin him

I remember one evening being asked (whilst playing George Freeman) "for gods sake will you play something fast?" OK I said and put on the Vondells. The woman who had asked for "something fast" didn't dance so I couldn't resist saying "I played that because I was asked to play something fast I didn't realise she meant to ask me to 'play something I know' "

I did feel bad about that but only for a second or so

When I used to do the Chesham Elgiva Hall nights, a girlie kept asking for 60s pop tunes. She came and asked for the Crazy World of Arthur Brown, "Fire". So the I introduced the next record " I am the god of hellfire and I bring you Fireman, Vala Regan"..........................I'll get me coat
