Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with it, it just seemed not quite right that's all, but if they love the music, fantastic.

Seem to have been waiting for this film to come out for years now, i genuinely hope it does the subject justice ,from what i have read , this is going to be the best shot at making such a film, i dont know elaine constantine, but she does seem to be going to extraordinary efforts to get minor period details correct. A s for the kids , there were a group of them at an all nighter i attended recently,and i spoke to a couple of them briefly they seemed to be in fancy dress, but they were full of excitement and enthusiasm , i,m not sure if it was for the scene or the fact that they were going to be in a film , like i say i want it to work, just wish they would hurry up !

A lot of them are quite active on the scene....Wigan Young Souls etc.. do go to KH..and various soul dos....was at the filming at the King Georges Hall in August....and from the sheer effort and attention to detail....Elaine and others involved are making sure as possible to get it all spot on..with any groupings of folk...there will be a few who will stay on the scene...the young Black guy pictured -Femi was one of the first to sign up for the classes and his dance style is really very very close to Vernon Price from Bradford.....they really are a brill bunch of young folk..very enthusiatic to learn about the scene....am sure if they was to stay on it.. they would evolve their own styles eventually....i personally cant wait for it to come out ....Delxxxx

Im with you have met quite a few of em,some are good but a lot arent and one or 2 think they are somethin special.Dont see it in any way as insperational ,but lets see how it turns out.

This is my opinion — Of course they are acting! They are actors! Most will do this ‘job’ and then move on to the next one, whilst carrying on with whatever they do in their personal (real) lives.

Chr*st, when Laurence Olivier played King Henry V he didn’t become a Knight did he? They’re actors, doing what they do — acting! There’s nothing to pick fault at, that is what I would expect because that is what they are being paid to do.

Apart from one or two it just seemed to me like they were all 'clones'...............maybe they've been watching too many Northern Soul dance lesson videos................. .

Theres a cracking clip on Facebook/youtube of them on dinner break in the pub. Its just someone filming on their mobile and they're all relaxing and having a drink, the musics on and some of them are dancing and generally messing about.

They all look like they're enjoying themselves and it comes across as really natural and realistic to me. Hope this is how it comes across in the film, without wanting to be critical - some of the clips I've seen seem a bit too formulaic like they're trying too hard? Anyway I reckon this will be the last time anything like this is attempted and is as realistic as its ever going to be so I hope its a success.

Had Motown week on the X factor at the weekend & if we carry on down this road in a few years it'll be Northern Soul week on same said program.

as a young person on this scene (aged the same as these "kids" I would hazard to guess) I find this stuff to be very inspirational indeed, because it makes me feel like I'm not the only young gun out there thats truly passionate about this music. Hopefully I can hustle myself over to the UK one of these days and dance it up at one of the big soul do's, though my steps are nowhere near as impressive

I do think it's the actors speaking on this trailer.

I know of some of the young uns (one in particular who I've seen out & about long before any soul films came along) who are in the film, and none of them are shown in this trailer. I'm pretty certain that they don't have talking parts, and are in the film for their dancing, I could be wrong, and I apologise to any bona fide soul kid that is speaking on this trailer.

Nevertheless, it's still a good trailer, as I can obviously relate to some of the feelings these actors are portraying & it does make me smile

I can understand what you are saying, but I can promise you it isn’t just ‘another gimmick’ Elaine has planned this for decades, it really is a labour of love. She’s taken some great photos over the years to capture this special thing of ours, and that is the reason she is doing this film.

I am taking this film for what it is — a film, and if it gives me some sort of insight to what it was really like back then - great. I suppose this is where your doubts come in - I will watch it, then trust those that were ‘there’ to let me know how accurate it is.

I loved the Godfather, but never for one minute did I think that Al Pacino was really the son of a mob boss, just as I never really thought that Robert De Niro was a real Taxi driver.

Furthermore I don’t I think that Danny Boyle’s film Trainspotting would have been enhanced by casting real heroin addicts in the lead roles. Come to think of it I loved Quadrophenia, but I don’t think that Phil Daniels andr Phil Davis were real mods; that fact didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the film.

A film can work for many reasons, interesting subject matter, a decent script, good direction and cinematography, and believable performances from the actors. I don’t know if Northern Soul the Film will have all of these attributes, but I’m hopeful.

Ok, I think the same, they ARE actors and they are playing a part BUT, don't you think the the music they are 'learning' and dancing to just might rub off on some of them? y'know? like it did to us when we first heard it and started to dance to it?

I don't think that anyone, or not many, could possibly go through the making of a film about the music learning to dance, and getting to know the records, without coming out of the other end uninspired. I think that a few future Soulies will be born out of this lot.

Isnt there a clip on you tube where someone is addressing the dancers before they start saying something along the lines of",Use more emotion al expression on your faces ,sing along to parts of the song,use your hands arms etc to express as much of that enotion ,pain ,love etc be sure it shows on your faces as it did on dancers back then",he goes on to give a few examples of how to do this,the clip shifts to the dancers who are now shown dancing and introducing the elements they were told .Well it wasnt acting back in the day or now for how people can act when dancing but it may well be just acting among most of the cast,along with the "stereotypical,soul talking ,its hard to tell there may be some who are into it as much as they say?if there is good.The other film was hyped up a lot and imo was crap I hope this one is better but its how the whole thing comes over not just the dancing though it would be nice if that struck the right chord.I shall probably go and see it on release anyway though I didnt the last effort watching in online was bad enough .Quite optomistic this film should be ok.

I wonder how far the realism thing will go with the gear aspect,will there be those huge two tone blue capsules they called"blueys" from quadrophenia,or will there be massive black and white(I presume thats what they were meant to be)look phook all alikes as i the last film

.I can remember lads in Corby coming up to me after that quadrophenia film as they knew I went to all nighters as a few of us from Corby did and they had heard the ,rumours about gear?Up until then when we used to see most of these town lads about in local pubs etc up the greeting and most of the talk had been of,"Ye didnt wanna be on that"stuff"ye know ye should be coming oot way us an getting pissed doon the nags heed disco, three f en good fights doon there thursday night two guys got bottled,it wiz great"(Corby accent ) or""Yell kill yerself on a theem drugs",a sort of benign contempt,if that could be such a thing,combined with what appeared to be socialy conditioned fear(these were when all is said and done just ordinary lads doing the do of the done thing to do at the time,guess it would have been the same all over lots of these lads were friends of mine..After the film had hit the cinemas it changed to ",Hey,can ye get some of them blueys things,ye know the big blue capsules they were taking"became the new greeting of the day instead of you shouldnt take them things ye know,,.I put a couple of people straight but so many were all on the bandwagon about the film and mods revival thing I just stopped doing that and said no mate,I didnt do an explanation as to the true nature of what they were seeking.I often wonder afterwards how sensible were the film makers in portraying speed the way they did when the closest thing it resembled was the barbituate sodium ambytal,wonder how many people took just that thinking they were having something to keep them awake all night! then Zonk...under the boardwalk!!!do do zzzzzzz

They need to get D the Drug in as a pharmaceutical advisor.The other film got slated for its Carry On Aspects but there's a clip where some regional tv presenter does a feature and the lads headbut someone...that is pure carry on.There does seem to be a lot more effort and time gone into this one though and a few of the kids are into the music...seen them at Stoke but for some it is probably just an acting part.Would like to see a few of the kids doing the mecca shuffle in pegs rather than just the acrobatic baggy cliches.Who is playing Simon soussan and will the infamous Dewhirst beer glass escapade be recreated.

The clip does not quite seem right to me.....the sentiments about the music seem cheesy...the dancing is fine ala 1972ish......the main problem............seems just a bit to squeaky clean and fresh........the whole thing needs to be a lot more down and dirty if you know what l mean

This fits quite nicley with the WIGAN drug thread..........in as much as.....it,s not quite right and the reason is the same as in that thread.........because it,s not real and they,ve not actually driven up the motorway necked a load of g/c's tried to avoid the d.s...had that certain look about them at the services that tells you straight away they're going to the nighter..........they're dare l say it not quite seedy underbelly to make it well real l suppose

I would say this is research, and again this is what actors do - They study the subject they are going to play. Some may get into our music / scene, and if they do then great, but not so great if the acting just carries on.

I went down as an extra (not for this video), I would say 80% of the extras were genuine as well. There were a few non-soullies and obviously the main character are just actors. But like i say most are very much into the scene. It was quite a hard environment to dance in, nothing like a soul night i have ever been too. Basically, you would get played the first 10 seconds of a tune to get you going. The music would then stop but you would be expected to carry on dancing while they shot a speaking part.
