" I'm thinking of renting mine out (45s), we all know it goes on"

Is it a common practice for djs to rent someone else's tunes and play them out ? I wouldn't have thought it common but does it happen ?

Or do some djs borrow other peoples 45s and play those out ?

Thanks for that copy of Eddie Parker-I'm Gone, it went down a storm. Here's your 20 quid.

Sorry about the gouge by the way.

When I was out around the UK at A/Nighters DJing each week-end...I was sent records....'anonymously'!!! I kid you not!!x I received the "Four Tracks...Like My Love For You'....and Reconsider...Brenda Holloway...and several Unreleased Motown tracks on white labels.....months before they were 'released'!! Never knew who....but knew why! Fortunately they were super tunes....so they went down well...and where mine! Well nobody has asked for em back yet....20 years later!x

I've never heard of anyone 'renting' records to play in their set in all the years I've DJ'ed.

What would be the point I have to ask ?

Lets not go there! I lent Pat Brady records occasionally when he did Wigan I still havent got my Lenny Curtis back : (

Very sad if this is happening. :(

Mind you it's only a small step from playing a boot out to playing someone else's records. Either way you don't actually own the real 45.

Like Dave Rimmer states, evidence?, I doubt very much that anybody would pay cash to play someone elses records, very sad indeed  :(

yeh   butch lends his to len  all the time  ......or if he don,t he ought to

Shouldn't you be looking for Antiques Terry at Mod Pod or making Jan's tea!lol

I can just see it now:

"One of only two known copies - currently played by (add list of 50 DJs you know).

I'm sure many DJ's must lend their records out given the number of them that play Exactly the same set as each other....

Imagine the conversation......

"Hello, is that the northern soul Records hire service?"

"Yes sir"

"I'd like to hire a copy of 'Girl across the Street' Moses Smith".

"Sorry Sir, but it's booked out untill May 2019"....
