Major Lance Everybody Loves A Good Time C/w I Just Can't Help It

Major Lance without question the Northern Soul’s Standard Bearer of the sound! This Chicago Soul Man did more to inspire the pioneers of the NS culture than arguably any other artist.

His UK Columbia release put the British kids in touch with the Chicago Sound which I for one was enthralled with when I first heard this particular song at Nottingham’s Brit Club in 1969 and the same night “Investigate” I like many others of the era became an instant “Major” devotee.

Over 15 years ago I sold one to a guy at the 100 Club - he offered all the loose change in his pocket so was obviously keen and I didn't want to disappoint so accepted £18. This was before Lonnie took off. About 10 years ago I sold about 30 copies to mainly UK dealers in small lots. Another case of Northern Soul defying the rules of supply and demand - the supply goes up and the price goes up...

I'm a fan of the shrine stuff...but 3.5k for that, is a crazy amount! I'm sure there's was a copy on here not to long ago,though be it a bit rough,but in the realms of 450 quid!...bloody big difference

Such extreme differences in prices lately, For me I'm losing track of what a true realistic value is for a record,buying or selling!...and your right pete it ain't a patch on jd bryant.

I am 55 years young, I don't want drift off topic, but £3.5K for the Cautions, who the hell will have that kind of money 10 years from now. Yes I know how auctions work. Has NS become the next Andy Warhol movement where people will pay "just to have it"? Only time will tell.

Hi Sam has had it back since then, and I think sold it again…..Mine came from Simon Murray...

I ended up with the cautions that Pete sold, i actually eventually upgraded if someone needs it (still have it), and can scan the original labels off of my upgrade if you want consistent looking labels. Thanks.

You could be the owner of a London football club or his girlfriend with a liking for cultural artifacts. You could be a professional footballer who leaves his Porsche in a pond. You could be a retired snooker player reputed to have rooms full of soul records. With the numbers of Chinese, Russian, Indian and African high-rollers increasing, it's not the prices I'm concerned about but a takeover of the whole record market by nations still unaware of USA music collectibles.

"Watch your step" is way better than "no other way" imo, terrible for you maybe. The other one has "poor loser" which is the best side. Fortunately for you northern dudes they threw you a bone on the b-side of "poor loser".
