I put Otis at the top of every soul poll. For me the closest a human voice has come to being a musical instrument. I don't think a bad note ever came out of his mouth.

Totally agree, I've been playing 'Otis blue' in the car for the last couple of days, one of the best soul albums ever cut imho.

Give that a play now and then.

It's credited Berns/Barry (Bert Berns and Jeff Barry) on the McCoys single, which was recorded in 1966 and which is exactly the same song. Otis Redding made his version in 1967. I suspect someone didn't look into the matter of writing credits closely enough at ATCO.

Stop the presses. The McCoys version and the Otis version have slightly different lyrics. However, the single credits Otis Redding, but the LP credits Randall Stewart and Edward Morris. All very confusing.

Nothing Otis Redding has ever done should be classed as under-rated!!!!   Fact!!!

I agree. If something like "Hard to Handle" was previously unreleased then it would be a massive NS tune.

fantastic record. and to be fair to eddy edmunds? he used to play it most weeks on his sunday show on solar radio

Eddy Edmunds put me onto it about 10 years ago via his website. Fantastic track alright and glad that it's still only a tenner. Also got sampled by The Eels on Mr E's Beautiful Blues

I first heard this around 1972 but it wasn't this Otis version, it was this one...didn't find out it was a cover until years later (*edit, looking the LP sleeve, it would have been 73/74)

times change and your perceptions change . records from the 60s that were outright shite and never sold are now revered collectors items on big money ,cos few sold and not many are around

Only heard this fairly recently when my mate greg played it to me. Loved it from the off. Played it to our lass as it reminded me of my first seeing her doing her thing on the dancefloor at kings hall .she loved it too.

Direct Me another overlooked one and Demonstration as my comrade mentioned earlier 

Can't believe his version of satisfaction hasn't been played out on the northern scene... It fits better than some of the odd ball stuff being played lol

How about this for a mid-tempo shuffler,its got the lot for me, brilliant
