This might have been asked before. But here goes anyway.

What record really does it for you even though you know it's a bit naff.

Mines Tim Tam and the Turn Ons.  Wait a Minute.

There I said it. I feel a burden has been lifted.

Anybody else need to unburden.....

Hugh.

Rob. Night Owl is a anthem . Took me quite a few years to get a nice red Cameo issue. And I used to play it out whenever I got the chance. Still one of my all time favourites.

  • the begining of this video clip made me laugh out well loud when I first saw it  as its almost exactly as I remember how it was at Wigan when I first heard this I was there giving it wtf is

  • 'MAIN CHANGE - SUNSHINE IS HER WAY' I know there are others who like it too....... Len

Mine must be

the present manys the slip as it was the first record I  danced to at Wigan as a 15 year old lad.

Hi mick , totally, haven’t heard it in years

really unusual and catchy tune 👍

From the Pop era of 77/8 this one has remained in the box to this day and everytime I play it it makes me smile (sorry)

guess if 20 years ago counts as recent

then this may just qualify, the summer of 2001 yep?

still brings a (guilty) smile

Can't fault you Mike.

I know that they are so bad that's why I said it.. do you think Sian or Dean would kill me very slowly if I ever played them at rugby lol

😄

I've always had a particular like for Jackie Trent - You Baby. Never liked Send her away though and as for Helen Shapiro, no thanks!!

The fact any record can really annoy 😒 grown up men and women is mildly amusing. Always had the same plan , wait for something i dont particularly like and head to the bar or some fresh air.😉

Eyup Hugh, mine,s gotta be Ral Donner, Don't let it slip away, I remember it being played at Boston Youth Club, bout 77 ish, Nutter Farndale I think, maybe Hattie played, still got it in me box, oh aye, Tim Tam also 😂, Jeff.

The list must be a mile long of once highly popular tunes that have virtually no chance of getting played at a serious soul night in the future.

The KGB at Sheffield threw up its fair share of such tunes.

This original soul pack throwaway side that caught on for a few months packed the floor solid.

A up Jeff. Yer that's where I remember it from. God what a great place that was. I couldn't wait until I was 13 because then you could stay until 10 o'clock. The nutter Andy Farndale gave me Tim Tam when I was 12grs old. Still got it in my box. Mad as a box of frogs he was but bloody hell could he dance. And you could hear Hattie's clap all over the club when he was on the floor. Great days mate.....

Tuuuuuune.  Us lot dancing to this would confuse some people these days. As would the tattoos some of us have. Just saying.

I have no idea why this gets derided so much, personally I love it, and wasn't around at the time. But I've heard loads take the pee of it. Really, if it was a rare and an unknown it would be massive with the upfront crowd today. It's no less soulful than 'soul thing', on cobblestone, IMHO.

and the absolute irony of some DJs playing this out and some of the folks dancing to it nowadays too given their political views around BLM
