Garethx
I agree with you Pete! Who doesn't like this one? Detroit soul at its very very best. The Masqueraders made very few poor records, and lots of absolutely sensational ones. Link to comment Social source share
Kerry F
How is one of my all time fave sounds, and The Masqueraders probably my fave male group. Link to comment Social source share

Stevecee
The Masqueraders - "How - La Beat My God what a sound...if I ever get this again I'll never sell it this time link Yep great sound, had the pleasure of dancing to it sat during Mark Bicknells spot at Soulgirls birthday bash in Bournemouth. Funny thing is Pete last time I was at this venue ( Jo Wallace birthday) you were Djing and I think you played it then, certainly you played Monique, Nat 4, Majestics, didn't you have yours around this time? Cheers Steve Link to comment Social source share
Jerry Hipkiss
Years ago, at Yate, John Farrell accosted me with a copy of "How" in one hand and their "I got the power" in the other. I couldn't afford both, so went for "I got the power". I've often wondered if I made the right decision, and although "How" is great, I still think I bought the right one! Jerry. Billy Freemantle
"How' is one of those records that gets in your head and stays there. A spacey, speedy sound. One of the great things about the Masqueraders is how they managed to sound so different on the many great record they made. Link to comment Social source share

Chalky
For a great piece of soul how about "A Family"? The Masqueraders Unmasked on Grapevine is one of the best cds I bought last year. Link to comment Social source share
Dayo
Beautiful sound, very chilled - as Billy said; spacey. Lovely harmonies. Satisifyingly long instrumental break. Gorgeous from the the first note till the last. When I hear records like this I often wonder if anyone in Detroit actually went to the record store and bought it? Did it get played at any local "record hops"? Did any DJ's plug it on the radio? Did any teens in the projects spin it endlessly on a bedroom Dansette (or the US equivilant)? I guess we'll never know. Yet another piece of sublime soul artistry that probably sank without a ripple... Link to comment Social source share
