Looking good

and nice to see the obscurer labels appearing

funny how everyone started with the more rarer logos than the obvious motown labels..........

you sure about Crow and Flaming Arrow, though we was decided it wasn't Detroit and Dave Thorley said no one in Detroit knew anything of it. Sure it's Chicago, BobA will know.

well, i'm staring at crow 42 right now, and it says across the bottom: 10049 TERRY, DETROIT, MICH.

at some point, crow/flaming arrow seems to have been based in georgia, but it was definitely a detroit enterprise for much of its run.

also, chalky, the flaming arrows that didn't get national distribution through atlantic are GM pressings. i am 100 percent certain these are detroit records. i'm sure carl p can back me up on this.

Think I've got all the duplicates. 317 so far, some with question marks so need verifying.

I thought WEED was out of Philly owned by Billy Harner and Benny Sigler?

NO,defo Motown says on the label a subsidury of motown records, then again could be two everyone was stoned then

jeez 317 and counting. havent even gotten to the rock, pop, gospel or country labels yet.

wendell harrison farewell to welfare on tribe from detroit comes to mind. along with a host of lp's

again, isn't sonday a west coast label? and what is sly girl?

for the record, sonday was dionne warwick's scepter subsidary and she was mainly west coast based. flaming arrow is not chicago and is detroit as matt said already.

zebra

dusty wilson i believe.

What about Grandland is that close enough to count

Regards

Ian

Are we sticking with 60's only? I think there's the odd one from the 70's.

re DRUM: seen it listed in the past as a detroit label, but it's surely new york, and billy hambric has no detroit connections...does he?

Drumhead, on the other hand--now, there's another Detroit label.

Is Inter/Soul a 70's label ?

IS 103 "stay here with me" was 74 IS 104 "Loves Makes The World Go Round" was same year I an't got any lower numbers so can't say for sure! anyone out there know?

Was Karate based in Detroit? Thought it was just a pick-up label.

ROD

someone on soulfuldetroit said it was a new york label connected with audio fidelity, and that it just picked up some detroit productions. it was a thread about how eric and the vikings on karate have nothing to do with the motown group.

Card

Love (Diane lewis - possibly??)

A nice job Chalky and I hate to nit-pick but you've got "Detroit Sound" and "The Detroit Sound". Actually thinking about it,are they different labels? "The De..." is Sequins. Robert Walker and assorted garage bands is different design.

ROD

NO,defo Motown says on the label a subsidury of motown records, then again could be two everyone was stoned then huh.gif

But after Motown had decamped to Los Angeles - so not a Detroit label.... :(

Here's a few more additions in alpahabetical order....

1) Fenton

2) Gold (the Cortez Young label not one with Brooks O'dell)

3) I.P.G.

4) Penny

5) Twirl- early releases (Johnny and the Hurricanes, Bobbie Smith) show Detroit on the label.

6) Wee-3

7) Workshop Jazz

8) Zelman

Here's a few you might want to delete-1) Prophonics (label says Mt. Morris which is about

75 miles away) 2) Whitfield ( didn't get up and running until 1976/77) 3) Dee Gee- I would

swear this was based in Los Angeles.
