Writing Credits Eddie Floyd's "i Never Found A Girl"
You are dead right Chalky - but this is pushing it a bit - Floyd's was Top 40 pop and no 2 R&B !!!

Aretha Franklin Jukebox 7"
I know I shouldn't comment in Sales but I love these Ep's and the associated slips and what not. Bought my copy of this from the late Jim Wray at Soul Essence......

Skullsnaps Lp
The sticker says the 'hit song' not 'hit single/45' - maybe the track was getting plays locally in the US - there were some massive regional markets and target audiences back then in the US - we seem to underestimate this over here. People seem to think a record was pressed and that's that. But things were repressed regionally , re-promoted with different tracks to suit what was happening locally - how many times do we hear a about DJ's flipping a single - do you think a record company would not react to that? Maybe the 'sticker' is an example of that? Take another contentious example GSH' s The Bottle - not a scrap of evidence it was ever released as a 45 as contemporaneous release with the album but multiple cover versions appeared and I have read at least one review of the Brother To Brother version talking about the 'hot pull track' from the GSH album. So there are examples of 'hits' that are not necessarily 45's or chart entries........just my thoughts mind....

Magma was his favourite band - funded a tour out of his own pocket. I have a copy of Q from the 80's when he discusses his musical taste , not a mention of Soul?- Diane Jenkins - I Need You (creative Funk)

Check out this posting last year by Jason Perlmutter re Durham City Soul in NC.... lovely display in the city itself in the history hub. Coincidentally, the postman has just delivered a Blind Boy Fuller LP - one of Durham's favourite Blues musicians - he's buried there - a great exponent of the Piedmont blues style of the Eastern seaboard states.... Mike- Any Album Experts On Here?
Harry, my copy - which was sealed - has the same stamped promo sleeve , only stamped across the opposite corner (on the opening). Its is more fainter than the one you have posted. It is an issue - with no indication of promo on the actual record! Lovely album mind inc the great crossover version of 'You Got Me' Mike ps I'm always interested in sealed copies - so if he listing any of the lot he brought back - give me shout!- Ray Charles - I Don't Need *a* Doctor
Putting the label aside, I wonder how it came about that the title was changed? a clerical error on the order to the pressing plant? a misinterpreted verbal request? It just goes to show that these variations exist without them being second issues, second pressings, bootlegs or whatever - just simply different!- Dave Godin Collection
I can't imagine that Dave Godin was a man who cared much for 'chattels' and I don't believe raking over this will do any good. He was a long time away from the Soul scene and had many interests outside Soul including cinema obviously and this is apparent in the Chetham 'collection'. His extensive and greatly influential writings on Soul music are still readily available in Blues & Soul and Black Music and that's how I care to remember him.- Freddy Butler Tone Deaf?
Not a high point of the album for sure....but ironically one of the two tracks deemed worthy of a 45 release!- Reissues With Exact Label Scans

Thanks for looking- Will Not Ship To The United Kingdom
Perhaps it is because of the constant whinging about postage costs, customs charges, UK post office charges, ebay global shipping, too much packing - not enough packing ....... and even demands that they lie and break the law to falsify customs declarations.....I've seen all these things on here......just a thought.....Mike- Gladys At The 02 Appolo
There are still tickets available at £55 for The Sage Gateshead. If you have not been there previously you are really missing something - I think it is the finest live music venue around, I realise it is in the North East of England but it is truly a wonderful building and a wonderful location with great views over the Tyne to Newcastle. Newcastle is a great city to stay over in too. Passport controls have been relaxed too so you should have no trouble getting in!- What Is A Pressing?
So you write a long paragraph of your 'definitions', yet I challenge one of them that is clearly incorrect and its 'semantic bullshit' and 'anal' - talk about the kettle calling the frying pan grimy arse!!!- What Is A Pressing?
I don't agree with 'Bootlegs' being described as 'illegal re-releases' - I remain convinced a bootleg is a release of a previously unreleased track be it 'Live' or a studio take/outtake NOT previously released legally... - Pitches/phoenix....20 Yrs Since
