Gloria Barnes Lp
Quick personal review; Track 1 - "Old before my time". Old fashioned plodding ballad, with sparse arrangement, does little for me. 2/10 2 "I'll call you back later". Fast funky tinged dancer, with great bassline 6/10 3. "I found myself" Excellent deep soul ballad, great vocal performance 7/10 4. "Gotta get away" Nice Northern sounding dancer 6/10 5. "You don't mean it" Probably the best known tune on the album. frantic floor filler, with killer vocals 8/10 6. "Home" Midtempo swayer, not the greatest song but well sung 5/10 7 "She wants a stand in" My personal favourite, crossover head nodding magic 9/10 8. "I'll go all the way" Unremarkable ballad 5/10 Overall a solid album, with 2 outstanding tracks.

Poll: Bbc Culture Show - Northern Soul - Your Take ?
Actually I thought it was rather good. I'm sure some people will pick holes in the minutiae, but what came across very well, was that all other aspects of the scene are, and have always been, secondary to the music. It's the music's ability to connect on an emotional level with us soulies that makes the scene(s) special, and nothing else comes close. 4/5

Bl**dy Ebay Bl**dy Ebay Bl**oody Ebay
I've had similar problems, but fortunately the worst outcome has been having to agree a no sale. Despite having asked Ebay a number of times, I still haven't had a reply as to why this maximum auto shipping amount is the same wherever the seller is situated. What you can do is to turn off the automatic checkout option, so that buyers cannot pay until they have received an invoice. However, I've found this to be a lot of extra work,

Bedford Soul Town
Bedfordshire as a whole has always had a strong soul scene, and still does. Places like Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard, Bedford etc have long been soul hot spots, as many members on here will testify. Big clubs such as the California Ballroom, Pink Elephant etc may have played a part in this.
