December 12, 201014 yr California Montage by Young Holt unlimited was the theme tune to the 1969 film "winning" which starred Paul Newman as an indy racing car driver I'd noticed that on my copy. And the fact the it was written by Dave Gruisin - which inspired me to do a search. Turns out that he also recorded a version of it himself. Came out on album and on a Decca 45. Not a patch on Young Holt unlimited, more of an easy listening version in fact. Still interesting to those of who like to hear original / different cuts I think:
December 13, 201014 yr Well I clicked this link and it inadvertently took me through to a softcore porn vid as I was frantically trying to navigate away from this depraved filth, I couldn't help noticing that besides the tart playing with her jubblies, was a crackin' Lou Rawls number playing in the background ... I can't remember the title ..'Front Room Fantasies' or maybe 'Misadventures at Megaboob Manor' .. Something like that ..

December 13, 201014 yr Thinking-caps on : which NS related tunes have unexpectedly turned up in a film ? (that has no connection to NS) and while on Nsoul in film, have any NS artists been spotted unexpectedly ? (in film) Rob. I remember seeing in the credits of the "National Lampoons Animal House" a bloke called Melvin Britt. A load of us went to see the film when it was released in 1978. He also did some of the backing vocals. I was never sure if it was THE Mel Britt. Anybody know for if it was?

December 13, 201014 yr Cant remember the film now, so I'm hoping someone else will. There's 3 old black guys sitting outside a store and every time the store comes into view the old guys are back there again, commenting on life. As I remember 2 of the 3 were old northern artists (the other being some old comedian possibly?) and it got talked about quite a lot on the scene at the time the film appeared. Could it be " a Spike Lee Joint " or similar? most likely a 90's film? help !
December 13, 201014 yr The Three Degrees were in The French Connection . Don,t know about Mel Britt in National Lampoon but the great soul/blues artist Robert Cray was in it.

Saw a documentary on Tarrantino a while back where he was going through his record box, he said it was one of his favorite tunes. That used to be on a Mastercard ad in the states too. When watching the NFL games occasionally we'd get an American ad before the producer probably watching Countryfile, spotted that he needed to switch the feed.
