Paid less than £150 for mine, been a few on the bay recently and all gone for less than £200 so I think Daves valuation is probably about right.

What kind of condition have they Been in?? I Did see a tidy copy go through the bay a few months back at about $400 and thought that was cheap it sounds like they have turned up in numbers or the demand has dropped right off, probabley the latter as I haven't had mine in my play boxes for a long time!!

OMG !! your Right just looked at a copy for $104 ( vg ) on popsike!! it used to be a £750 if you could find one!!

Yer Probabley right Pete Apparently it was made as an Italian jukebox record so the story goes. Some dj from a liverpool radio station gave it to Sam. I remember him playing it at the Casino.

Just been talking to Pete on the phone about this!! and how it stayed hard to find for years with Sam appearing to have the only copy and then the last 8 to 10 years they have started turning up!! Oh Well !! "The crazy world of Northern Soul" as they say!!

I read some where that the record was ment to have been a give away at a supermarket sure ill get some smart remarks - ill try and find the info if anyones interested - seemed to be very hard 45 to get once when Sam played it at St Ives - as alot of 45s time changes things and more have appeared paid 350 for mine but you should find it less then 200

I think it's more likely a case of the global market making some things available that weren't before, just like some US records were thought to be rare by UK collectors and aren't anymore. I doubt it was bootlegged as they show up in different conditions. People in Italy probably know to look out for it now. Also, given that it's like a straight pop record and doesn't look indie, it probably was produced and distributed in some amount (for whatever reason, it would be interesting to hear the story behind it).

Yeah, I read that as well. I think I also read that it was on one of those cheapo Avenue 7"ers with 6 cover versions on.

Lots of interesting comments ' its never been booted 'so if they have turned up in numbers it really makes no difference to me as i pick it up for $25 dollars ' real bargain i would say.

TBH I always prefered Blue Sharks version, can see where your coming from though - like a lot of tunes my oppinion maybe clouded by nostalgia

If I remember rightly, it came out here first on one of those cheapo cover records, then was picked up by the Italian store for a giveaway. Not sure where I read it but there's a good chance it was on here.

You probably mean one of the many Mike Morton LP

There was a rumour about 2 years ago that this LP version by Mike Morton was the exact same recording as Blue Sharks. "These Things" is indeed the same, however "Banner Man" (The Blue Sharks flip side) is different.

I did get both the LP's at the time, one with "These Things", and a second LP with "Heaven Must Have Sent You" (coincidentally, this second LP also had "Banner Man" on it).

Also the tracks were faded together with Fake appluase between tracks (Like O'Jays MFP LP)

Old posting I know, I've been on the lookout for a copy, most I've seen are mint to EX+ and from £180 to £350.00. I do like it very much I've seen a photo of the group sort of white guys looking like Prince.

I may well have been influenced by the fact that it has been championed by Sam for years - maybe not. I just like it and the italian influence adds a little something.

I have vague memories of Nev Wherry spinning this too - along side the likes of Arin Demain, although I might just be making that up. Any views?

Not true I'm afraid. In March 2007, at a weekender in Asturias in Spain, he played it. My ears at that point weren't yet receptive to Modern Soul, so amongst all that Lil Major Williams, Ike Strong, Ellipsis, King Tutt, Tribute To Betty Wright stuff, it kind of made my night and of course transported me back to the main room at St.Ives in 1977. He followed it with Frank Beverly 'Because Of My Heart'. I think it's a great version, and I'm no fan of European pop-soul tunes.

I'm not sure that your post would make it untrue. The last Cleethorpes all dayer was March 2007 if I recall - so he may well have played it in Spain too.

I checked on Popsike and it gave about 10 copies as having being sold on Ebay. They went from £400.00 at the peak now running at about £150.00. I think there's another site like Popsike, not sure what it's called, something like Vinylmaniacs or somesuchsimilar. Anywhere else you look for records that sold ?
