A new year and a new beginning for the fabulous Soul Source photography thread. We've had so many fantastic contributions from so many members over two very long-running and very lengthy threads now, so it makes sense to start afresh.

For people who perhaps haven't contributed before, the idea is very simple: although the emphasis has been on nature/wildlife/flowers and scenic views, just post up and share pics you've taken of, well, just about anything.

Here's three from me, which were taken today in a small nature reserve behind Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Although it started out as a very clear and sunny afternoon, conditions changed very quickly and it became very overcast - and, I have to say, there was very little in the way of birdlife to see. Perhaps they'd all cleared off elsewhere as the place was pretty busy with people out burning off the Christmas calories.

Took the dog for a walked looked back and saw the sun going down between these two trees, I never even knew there was any tree there even though I've lived in the area over 14 years Ahhhh  - the next day I saw the cloud formation am sure there's a name for it - just looked cool early in the morning.

Went for a lovely walk on Sunday 11.9.16 from Low Force to High Force waterfalls in beautiful Teesdale

Here are some of the photos of the bees and hoverflies on the walk. Wish I had been able to capture a photo of the beautiful Banded Demoiselle Damselflies flying over Moorhouse Nature Reserve

Here is my eldest daughters partner holding my first grandchild....Little Ronnie weighing in at 1 pound and 3 ounces.

He is so small due to malnourishment because of  the placenta not being attached to mother properly,

plus he was delivered 12 weeks early because my daughter had preeclampsia and her liver and kidneys where not functioning,

Not a good weekend but a good start to the week.....both are doing well

Yes Suzanne, your pictures are beautiful. Just seeing them makes me hear the sound of the water flowing,

Yes I live 18 miles away from High Force, I am part of Teesdale. We are a 1000 foot or so above sea level and it is hilly where I live. I live 4 miles from Hamsterley Forest which is great for walking and mountain biking. This is the information board at Moorhouse Nature Reserve

The lampshade has finally been removed and most of the stitches are gone. She looks a lot better and although she`s lost quite a large part of her upper lip, really doesn`t seem any worse for wear.

I'm sure we're all guilty of taking the miracle of life for granted, and it's very humbling seeing pictures like this, I was 13 lbs 4 oz at birth, it's made me feel positively gargantuan. I hope his parents aren't going to lumber him with the epithet "Little", as that's just rubbing salt in the wounds.  Good luck to the parents and him as well as you Steve.

I'm actually the smallest in the family now Steve. My mother was a big woman, apparently the labour was very swift.  I'm sure Ronnie will turn into a big strong lad.

Small Tortoiseshell near Cockfield Felltaken on Saturday 17th September 2016

Hedge Woundwort still flowering, some great types of fungi on Cockfield Fell too. I just love this place  

Had a walk along another of my favourite walks on Sunday, the Old Tees Railway Walk Romaldkirk to Middleton in Teesdale. A beautiful Red Admiral landed on a bramble bush in front of me.   I spent about ten minutes watching a bee and a hoverfly sharing a feed on Devils Bit Scabious. A few other bees and hoverfly taken too

Not had chance to get out and about with the camera for the last couple of weeks which has doe me in but all change from next week so with a bit of luck should have some pictures to post.

Just seen over my Manchester back garden probably the last Swallow  of the year, flying alone and in a southerly direction. Such a sad day but it ill soon be late March when they return.

A couple from yesterday's walk along Cockfield Fell Small Copper and Small Tortoiseshell.9 The Small Copper I am so pleased to get as they are very fast flying 

Had to take these through the window and the little chap wouldn`t sit still for long.

Also had this massive spider web across the yarden this morning which had to be dismantled i`m afraid.

Been a early start today was up at Leighton Moss RSPB reserve by 7.45 am. Was worth it managed to see and get picture,s of a very rare little bird, so rare that it only breeds in Norfolk and Leighton Moss as far as I know. Leighton Moss only has  five breeding pairs.

Wow! Beautiful little bird Steve - well done. I presume male and female? I don't know the species - Finch family?

This one shows the male and female on a grit tray. They need grit to help them transfer there dietary requirements from eating insects in the spring and summer to eating seeds through the autumn and winter times when there are no insects so the RSPB put out the grit to help them

Hi Pete. Sorry yes Male and female. They're called Bearded Reedling or Bearded Tits which is there common name. there are only 640 breeding pairs in the country.

Here,s something that myself with my limited knowledge  and a few more experienced birders today have never ever seen a picture of a  Redshank catching and eating a fish. If you enlarge the picture you should just be able to make it out.

Forgot to add yesterday that I saw two Swallows and one House Martin, are they the last for this year ?

Had some nice steady air for a change today , allowed me to get in a bit closer to the new activity using  3x Barlow ... 

And just for a laugh I rotated and scaled my efforts to match the latest NASA/SDO Continuum data , none too shabby from an old boy with  DSLR , 20 frames and an atmosphere to contend with ...  (the Solar Dynamics Observatory sits in orbit about 36,000 Km above us )

Top half courtesy of NASA/SDO and the EVE , AIA and HMI science teams , lower half courtesy of Canon EOS 1000D , Tal 100RS 'scope , 3x Barlow , Baader ND3.8 Imaging Solar Film and OIII filter.

If I wouldn't have become so infatuated with all things vinyl in my late teens I could have become more interested in photography and possibly taken similar photos to those uploaded by many on this thread.

But I didn't - so I'm reduced to sending in photos taken by other people.

In my early teens I used to go fishing here, there and everywhere from first thing in the morning to last thing at night. I even used to walk 3-4 miles carrying all my tackle to local reservoirs, fish all day then walk the 3-4 miles back home.

But I never ever caught anything like these.

They are also at Blacktoft Sands near Goole as well, I've seen them there with a bittern in the background through some guys telescope, didn't have the camera with me that day and the lenses I have probably wouldn't have been long enough anyway, it would have been a hell of a picture. 

By the way the wife and I have a toddle around Leighton Moss quite regularly.

Have you ever seen any otters at Leighton Moss, the wife is obsessed about seeing them, I'm very doubtful whether they are actually there.
