I know that this is quite a rare record, but I also know a lot of people who say that they have owned an original.

Have they all at one point owned the same record, or are there more copies about than first thought, or is it the more likely option that there is a 1970's bootleg that they have unsuspectingly owned without knowing....

I have see 2 copies that look the same one has a matrix   B9001-A  and the other in   B9001-A P.B.

 

There is a 7ts boot Andy, not sure of the matrix, but probably why it didnt really get many plays back then, think it was booted pretty swiftly....

Cheers Chalky, so the P.B. is a boot and not a second official press then, as someone on Discogs is selling a P.B. copy for £480.00 and thinks it is maga rare as it has the P.B. I think they must have been sniffing glue

Also from what I can work out is that another boot of this sold for £450.00 in June 2015

I think the bootlegs are rare Andy, Ive not seen many anyway

The same as the other boots from Soussan, George Blackwell, Salvadors etc, PB in the run out.  The boots are pretty rare though.

I've seen a list of Soussan's from I think 1975 with this on for a fiver so was a pretty rare record then when compared with other items on the list.

I had a copy in the 70's sure it cost me £3 but no idea if it was a boot or not 

Can't get over people paying that sort of money for a boot, knowing that it is a boot!!!

Doesn't matter how rare the bootleg is, its still a forgery and not original, I would sooner make a carver for £10 to play at home than pay over £400.00 for something that is not an original.

They probably don't realise it is a boot, looks almost identical to the original.

Am pretty sure dave raistrick found a few boxes of this an age ago and only took a few copies  and left the rest.

When talking to Dave about it I understood he found it a bit later, after the one Soussan had, although it would still be relatively unknown.  Was Dave who told me about the boot.

No..was played and known before Dave found a copy some time later (which i saw & we discussed some 20 years ago) i think was a SS discovery and remember being played briefly at Wigan ( had it on tape) at least before being booted in limited quantity..

this along with eddie rey - something of value ,,,eddie foster - I  never knew (multi coloured) are among the rarest reissues..

you just never see them ..

the price is bound is go up after time as they themselves become collectors items

I asked him/her was told it was original.

Sold mine a year or so ago and achieved a similar price but mine was EX if i remember rightly. Nice record wish i could of kept it. Never seen a boot of it in the flesh.

I quite like it, but puzzled as to how it would have gone down back in the 7ts at t'Casino et al....would not have thought that it would have fitted in at all back then ???

I think it was one that was booted "in anticipation" of demand, which never came. Like the "Uncle in Florida" would send it over for plays at The Casino, and press it up thinking the demand would follow, but it didn't. A bit like "Moving forward" Nat T Jones which is also not common on a pressing. 

And the original of that seems pretty rare also. Can't imagine either of these being played at the Casino as described by the folk who went.

But do you agree with the theory of the pressings being done in anticipation of it being hammered by the jocks? And they weren't so the pressings never sold.

That is the most likely reason for the boots Steve.  Soussan had sent it over and also listed it for a fiver...unfortunately probably too left field for Wigan at the time.

I should point out that there were hardly ANY boots of Eddie Daniels back then. The record came into conversation quite a bit but no one I knew had a copy, not even Colin Curtis and he loved it. If there were bootlegs of it, then they certainly didn't filter onto the scene back then. I don't think there could have been any more than a handful. There was a massive amount of bootleg paranoia at the time. I received a George Blackwell 'original' from Soussan but didn't take any enjoyment from it because I thought it was a boot, so it went in a swap deal. But guess what? I never saw any more after that. So these were not titles that were bootlegged in any quantity that's for sure.
