The highest price ever on Ebay was about £320.00 which I to me looks a lot BUT £1,337.00

Anyone who wants my stone mint, only played once copy drop me a line it's yours for £1250.00

it's a leet record though innit?

£104.00 just a few months ago!

You can have control of billions regardless of intelligence. I think we’re seeing a one-off situation involving a multi-millionaire personality who can spend money without even bothering to check the credit card statement. There was always the possibility that some TV celeb B lister would latch onto the music and grab the nice tunes when they came to market - it could be a Chinese businessman, a Russian oligarch, a Radio 1 DJ, it matters not, but there’s  at least one person out there who spends on records like no-one ever has. Only John knows their identity and he sure won’t be telling us the name of his golden goose...

Fair point...so two ultra-rich newbies to the scene as they would have picked this one up much earlier had they been around a few years ago...

Auction prices are determined by incremental bidding competition, and as long as the reserve was met, it may well be due to a bidding war!

Seen this many times with folks who just have to win at any cost....

They would have picked it up much cheaper if they had asked on here or Facebook. 

Trouble is that this then becomes the new value (perhaps not this one !).  Last one sold for £nnnn so .....

Pathetic more money than sense  .you can pick up a handful of quality tunes for that amount  it's a piece of plastic for gods sake

i suppose if the usual rate for this is 200 quid,and the usual rate for sam williams on tower is 1200 quid,does that mean the buyer would be happy to pay about 8k for sam williams? haha

The last copy of Sam Williams that JM sold went for almost £4k, I remember this very well because it was only just M- and only a few months earlier he sold an unplayed copy of mine but it only made £2800.00

Also I think some of these people have a very limited knowledge when it comes to telling originals from bootlegs/lookalikes.

They bid more on Manships auction, because they trust him to send them a definite original record!

There's more than enough information available to less educated people on the likes of here to guide them if they could be bothered or interested.    Even going through John still doesn't justify the price for this particular record.

  Jay D ,{maybe Jay Z, was the Buyer}, Discogs ,March this year sold ,Low ,45 , Med 88, High 157 ,pounds , Popsike 2 years previous 100$ for a VG. If i can google that ,so can anybody . i have known some mega rich business people ,eg. Pete Waterman,and they could all split a penny , euro dollar ruple ,to get the "Real Deal"!.Also discogs is filtering out ,blocking Boots now so the originals problem is reduced, and JM sells unofficial releases, clearly stated ,of course . .

Or maybe someone got Sam Williams confused with J D Martin? I’m always getting my white demos on Tower mixed up... was it Jerry Naylor or the Four Larks I meant to get next and so it goes...

Just waiting for somewhere like Manchester University to start up a degree course in Soul Studies. I fancy three years of hedonism up north, especially if they do away with tuition fees.

A load of old codgers studying 50 year old music and holding allnighters in the students union every Friday and Saturday night, assisted by the boys and girls who are doing degrees in Chemistry!

I've had 44 years of hedonism and not just up here in the North  only ever paid entrance fees.

Crazy price but records  are worth whatever Some one is prepared to pay but if there buying as an investment their liable to get their fingers burned  if and when the market collapses
