saw Gene Chandler , early 80's (with Snake Davis band), Alfreton leisure centre.... he nailed it!  wonderful .  we even boogied around to this : 

 

 

 

Would have loved to see him live doing a regular (as opposed to a 'northern') show

From 1980. Decent modern soul tune which peaked at 28 in the UK charts 28.6.80.

So many great songs to choose from over such a long period of time. This is one of my faves that hasn't already been picked.

Just saw this clip again, check it out, it’s how Gene Chandler got his name(that man Carl Davis again) and how Carl championed ‘Duke of Earl’  fascinating especially coming from Carl himself :/)
