Mickey Finn
My sentiments exactly. This looks like a compilation for readers of Q magazine rather than anyone likely to subscribe here. As such, not illegitimate, but compared to the compilations of Van McCoy and Thom Bell productions, for example, this is a very different proposition that won't be finding its way into my collection. For which Mrs Finn is very grateful. 1 Link to comment Social source share
Chalky
There are a couple of dodgy choices. The Fall, Vanilla Fudge etc but I guess it shows the reach H-D-H had on popular music. The rest of the CD is pretty good. Link to comment Social source share
Shinehead
The Donnie Elbert track is a big favourite of mine the stereo version I have on an All Platinum sampler blows away the 45 cut though, the strings really come to the fore. 1 Link to comment Social source share
Soul-slider
The version of Dusty Springfield - A Love Like Yours is from the 1978 45 release. There is actually a better version she recorded in 1974 for an unreleased ABC/Dunhill LP, which is more (dare I say it) Northern. Link to comment Social source share
Soulfinger
I buy pretty much every Kent release, but this is a strange one. I don't have The Band, The Fall, Vanilla Fudge or Laura Nyro and don't have any particular desire to hear them. I've made a playlist of the rest of the tracks and it's pretty decent. Laura Nyro's 1971 album, 'It's Gonna Take a Miracle' is worth getting hold of. 2 Link to comment Social source share
