Not northern soul I know.........but it may slip in under the umberella of R&B room acceptable

Etta James - 7 Day Fool - - - - now that woman knew how to look after her man

Can't believe that, there's not even the hint of a smirk from any of 'em, do you think THEY even realised what he was singing?

Your Little Sister - The Marvellos

probably not one you should sing along to...

As for the Checkmates, pretty good record but almost impossible to play out, although he does only say '...run n***** run' towards the end fairly quietly and it is a black guy singing...

...yeah you're right best leave it in the box.

Listening to the lyrics of "I'm Gone", I'm guessing that Eddie Parker hadn't finished his MA in Womens' Studies

Basically, soul is just not as rude as R&B, though....... just the titles make me giggle...

Big 10" Record

Get Off the Table Mabelle (The Two Dollar Bill is for the Beer)

Baby Let Me Bang Your Box

Who Put the Dexedrine in Mrs Murphy's Ovaltine?

And just remember this sound advice.......

It ain't the meat, it's the motion,

That makes your Daddy wanna rock.....

It ain't the meat, it's the motion,

It's the movement that gives it the sock.....

What about Big Boy Arthur Crudup "She's Got No Hair". It goes somewhere along the lines of "Hey look at her she got no hair, hey look at her she got no hair". I cannot find the lyrics, but there's a bit in the song where it says "her wig fell off and she had no hair at all."

This reminds me of that spoof of 7ts blaxploitation films "Im gonna get you sucka". If you've seen it you will know what Im talking about. Hilarious film!

i know the scene you're talking about... bald heads in R&B predate that song though, one of the treniers famous records is "bald head"

Little Walter's R&B record "BOOM BOOM, OUT GO THE LIGHTS" celebrates domestic violence. The lyrics are very wrong indeed:

No kiddin' Im ready to fight

Ive been lookin for my baby all night

If i get her in my sight

Boom! Boom! Out go the lights.

It's misogyny builds as it goes along.

Did he ever manage to pull a woman again after releasing that record?

He could hardly use it as a chat up line.

"Hey baby, Im the guy who had a hit about beating up my woman, fancy dinner?"

Irma Thomas - Don't Mess With My Man:

The money my husband makes

is for green peas and rice

now, my man gives me steak

ain't that nice? biggrin.gif:D

Not soul, but the ultimate non pc song should be the Ten Commandments by Prince Buster...

I think you'll find 'Wives and Lovers' by Jack Jones is the easy listening alternative to that.

Big 10" Record

I got a 5 CD set full of Blues and R&B with double entendre. How about "keep on churning till the butter comes"? Or "I like my babys pudding"?

But the best one is still Jackie Wilson and LaVern Baker doing their xx-rated version of "think twice"...

In that case it could be "your much too old girl"

How about Flower Shopp " you,ve come a long way baby"

there,s a line in it about hair begining to grow below her waist! unsure.gif

Threw me that many moons ago - sure he sings "with curves below your waist"

See it was all sweetness and innocence back then!!!

Melting Pot - Blue Mink deffo a no no nowadays

Curly Latin Kinkees

Mixed with Yellow Chinkees

It was not just me talked to few people who said thats what they sang

Wot about these two that are the opposite, and are records that are pretty tame:

100 Pounds of Clay - Gene McDaniels (released in 1961 and banned by BBC radio cos they said it insinuated women were made out of 'building materials.'

Rhapsody in the Rain - Lou Christie

(the lyrics go, I think "Baby the raindrops play for me a lovely rhapsody cos on our first date we were making out in the rain, and in this car our love went too much too far, then a flash from above lightning lightning, just like our love it was exciting, exciting) or summat like that. Quite tame compared to today I think.
